Why is it that when we have so much, we always want more? Why is it that when we are at our lowest, we are more thankful for what we have? Why do we only give thanks once a year; shouldn’t we be thankful every time something good happens or we get something expensive?
The only answer that I think of, for all those questions is: We take too much for GRANTED! And, we only do this because we don’t know what it’s like to have nothing and we don’t want to know because we’re SCARED.
Well, let me just say that if you don’t know what it’s like to NOT have clean clothes or your own bed to sleep in; you should not want more than what you currently have because you have everything you need to live a HAPPY & COMFORTABLE life.
AND, if you’re still not happy with all that you have, then I suggest searching for answers elsewhere, rather than buying more expensive things (look at what you have, not want you want).
I mean, (ya, sure) sometimes it can feel good to purchase an expensive item that you’ve wanted for a while; it gives you a sense of purpose and makes you feel like you accomplished something.
However, if every time you’re feeling low, you go out and buy something, that ritual will loose value and you will become stuck in the everyday motions of life & that’s no fun (that’s when life starts to feel repetitive and lifeless).
That’s why, you have to continue to be thankful for what you HAVE because one day all the things that surround you, will become meaningless and you will have nothing else to look forward to in life.
Make life count; Live a meaningful life through gratefulness!
“warmly or deeply appreciative of kindness or benefits received; thankful, gratitude: I am grateful to you for your help.”
Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given.
