Be The Dumbest…

Humility: “A modest or low view of one’s own importance; humbleness”.
Validation: “Recognition or affirmation that a person or their feelings or opinions are valid or worthwhile”.
Ego: “A person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance”.

. . .

These three states of mind can all work together to better your mindset and help you learn to always be the Dumbest!

. . .

Being validated is a great feeling and it usually always boosts our ego, but those who stay humble are succeeding at Being the Dumbest!

. . .

Why would I ant to be the dumbest; you ask?

Well, let me explain…

…I just finished reading this book: “How to be a Bawse”  by Lilly Singh (if you know it, we can be friends. If not, that’s okay, But you should get it and read it, it’s an amazing book).

Anyways, I just finished this book and one of chapter titles was “Be the dumbest”.
Now, just like you probably thought, I was also very confused by this title, so before reading the chapter I decided to try and guess what I thought the chapter would be about; and here’s what I came up with:

“I thought this book was about being successful and staying positive in life. Why would I want to be the dumbest; isn’t that counter productive? Shouldn’t I try to be the smartest (or at least; not dumb)?”

I then proceeded to read the chapter and it made total sense (and I just had to share it).

Being the dumbest doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you don’t know everything.

You only know what you need to know to do YOUR job correctly.
If you have a question about something that is outside of your area of expertise, you shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions. Asking questions is the only way to get smarter.

I encourage you to try and ask at least 1 question a day & see what happens. However, don’t ask smart question though; ask questions that make you seem dumb, so you can learn more (the dumber the question, the more you will learn from the answer).

P.S. Learning should not stop after you graduate because even then all you know is what you learned in school, so you really ARE the dumbest. And, when you get a job all you know is how to do that specific job.
The only way to keep learning everyday is to not be afraid to ask (sometimes) stupid questions.

So next time you are at a meeting or hanging with friends try and be the dumbest person in the room (being the dumbest is better than pretending you know everything)

Thanks for reading!
