Fear is calling

What if your greatest fear is actually what you’re meant to do in life?

. . .

Think about that!
Think about the thing you refuse to conquer because it scares you too much.
Now, think about what would happen if you conquered that fear.

What if conquering that fear is the breakthrough you need to accomplish your dreams?
What if once you conquer this fear you will start to see your life change?
. . .
I know from experience that conquering your greatest fear can genuinely change your life.
I used to be so scared to speak in front of big groups of people (public speaking – my biggest fear ever since I can remember).
But, ever since I started solo traveling abroad, I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone so much everyday. I’ve been doing things (like speaking to strangers) that I know past me would never even dare trying because she was too scared.
And, now that I’ve started stepping out of my comfort zone, I’ve realized that it feels so amazing when you conquer a fear.
I feel like I can do anything!
When I think about past me and how fearful I was, I can’t believe how far I’ve come. And, all it took was for me to take one big, scary step into the unknown, and then, everything fell into place from there.
Once I decided to take the leap, and travel abroad alone, I realized that if I could gain enough courage to solo travel to foreign countries surrounded by strangers that spoke a different language, I could do anything.
. . .
In other words, the day I decided to solo travel abroad is also the day that I started conquering my fears (like speaking to strangers in a foreign language), and that’s when everything changed (my mindset, confidence, etc.)
My confidence has risen so much so that I don’t even recognize that fearful girl that I used to be, and it feels amazing to have no fears.
I say: “No fears” because now, when something scares me, I have enough confidence to make me want to conquer that fear because I know it will be so worth it. It will give me even more confidence and make me feel so accomplished.
. . .

So, if there’s something that really scares you, I recommend just going for it. You never know what will happen.
Conquering that fear could lead you to your life purpose!

What if your greatest fear could actually become your life purpose?

Anxiety…

All the questions
Racing through your head

Your future
You can’t escape
Even for a few hours
No sleep for you

This anxiety
It won’t give up
Keeps you up at night
It just won’t die

You tell yourself:
“It’s just anxiety,
I can make it stop,
I can overcome it,
It won’t consume me anymore!”

BUT –

As soon as your head
Hits that pillow
They pop back
In your head

You try everything
To fall asleep
To forget the thoughts
Consuming your mind

BUT –

You know
When you wake up
They’ll be back again
And you can’t take it anymore

Trust the process

You don’t know,
What will happen tomorrow.

You don’t know,
Where life will take you.

You don’t know,
How you will feel.

You don’t know,
Why things happen.

You just,
Don’t know.

You can’t plan,
Your whole life.

It will just happen,
The way it’s supposed to.

And nothing you do,
Can ultimately change that.

Those decisions,
Shouldn’t stress you.

They won’t end your life.
So, don’t worry too much about them.

You can try your absolute best,
To create an amazing life for yourself.

But, in the end,
Life will just happen.

There’s nothing you can do,
You can’t change it.

But, you can,
Make it even better.

Just work towards your dreams.
And, be happy and thankful everyday.

Fly!

Super strength or invisibility…
Which one
is the best
superpower?

I don’t know…

I just wish
I could fly!

To get a full view
of the world,
without distractions,
or pressures,
from surrounding sources.

To just
see
the world.

No one to tell me
How,
or
What,
or
Where,
to look.

Oh, how I wish
I could fly!

To be free!
To feel
Complete freedom
from everything
Down here
There are too many restrictions & distractions!

Oh, how I wish
I could fly!

To better understand
the people in the world.
To get their attention,
and show them
and tell them
that they can wish
to fly,
one day too.

Oh, how I wish
I could fly...

Dream…

I won’t give up!
One day at a time!
I will keep moving!

Day after day,
Tear after tear,
Smile after smile!

Through the good,
And the bad,
I will not give up!
It’s just within reach!

Each day,
I learn new lessons,
To use when I get there,
Because –
I will get there!
It’s just a matter of –
Time!

Every time I fail,
I will get back up!
Every time I forget,
I will remember why I started!
Every time I give up,
I will start-over again,
And again!
Because –
I will never give up!

I WILL DREAM!

Decisions…

What do you want to do when you grow up? Where do you see yourself in 5/10 years? What do you want to eat for supper? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE?

. . .

They just never stop!
They never leave you alone!
They are ALWAYS there!

One after the other.
They just pop in your head.
Waiting for you to choose.

Pick the right one!
Don’t mess up your future!
Don’t let yourself down!

So much unknown!
In such a simple question!
Can you handle the pressure?

Remember:

Some decisions might seem like “make or break” now, but it’s all shaping you for your amazing future ahead! Don’t get too stress by the pressure,
just choose wisely, and calmly.

And, if you mess up, don’t worry!
That’s just one extra lesson for your future self to thank you for!

Influence…

“The capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.

. . .

INFLUENCE. …such a big, complicated word that many people don’t like to use because they don’t really understand it.
And, I know this is true because I googled it, and the following questions popped up. These questions inspired me to write this post with my thoughts and answers to them.

. . .

  • What is an influencer?

Literally, ANYONE!

  • Who can I influence?

Anyone, whoever you think you can teach and influence.
Usually you end up influencing the people around you the most, without even realizing.

  • Why are some people better influencers?

It all depends on their confidence level and the passion they’re inspiring into others.
People notice confident and positive individuals because that’s what everyone strives for in life. (You can’t expect people to follow you if you’re always negative.)

  • Am I an influencer?

YES! Of course! You influence people everyday without even realizing it (by the way you act, dress, talk, etc.). That’s why you should always strive to be your best around others because they WILL notice, and it might even inspire them.

  • How do I become an influencer?

You already are one! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Just by being you, and doing what you love with confidence and passion.

You don’t need to do anything special to influence people.
You just gotta be your best, confident and passionate self, and people will start to notice your positivity, and they will ask you for your secrets.

That’s the best influencer!

Being 100% yourself, without thinking about what others might think of you (that’s the secret to being a great influencer).

So, if you really want to become an amazing influencer; start by working on your confidence and passions because people will notice, and they WILL take notes.
And, remember:

You influence people everyday,
so make sure you bring your best self forward everyday!
And, wake up everyday thinking about how you can
be a light / breath of fresh air in someone’s day!

I hope this post influenced you into being a better influencer!

Bring your A Game!

100% of your energy
100% of your focus
100% of your positivity

Always give 100%
No matter what you feel inside
Just give it 100%

You never know where it could lead..
It could be your turning point,
To accomplishing your dreams!

Show people what you can do.
Show them your best version;
Show them what they’re up against with you.

You don’t have to let them win.
You CAN try your hardest;
Cuz they’ll be surprised, and you will win!

Catch people off guard.
Surprise them with your amazingness.
It won’t be simple; in fact it’ll be very hard.

But, it will be worth it.
It’ll teach you a lot about yourself.
It’ll show you & others that you CAN do it.

You just gotta believe in yourself –
Enough to always bring your A Game.
And, give 100% in everything you do.

As I sit here…

Here I am, waiting…
Learning patience everyday!
I sit here and wait.

My day will come.
I just know it, so I wait.
Patience is a skill.

I’m perfecting it.
I get better and better –
Everyday, I wait.

I get discouraged.
But, I never stop learning.
There is a reason.

I don’t know it yet.
But, I will when it happens –
And, I will love it!

So, I patiently –
Wait for that; my best day –
It’s in front of me.

And, as I sit here…
I question, and learn a lot.
Preparing myself.

That day is coming.
It’s just around the corner.
So, I keep the faith.

And, as I sit here…
I start to pray about it, and –
I ask for patience…

…Until that day where –
All my dreams will come true, so –
I sit here and wait –

patiently…

I need you!

Yes, you! I need YOU! Don’t give up now!
This poem is for anyone out there going through a tough time in life right now.

Please, don’t do it!
I know you’re tired!
But, just focus on staying healthy, and keeping your mind fit!

I know it’s exhausting!
It feels like the only way out.
But, have you tried dancing, or singing?

You hear people say:
“Oh, It’s just a phase, you’ll get over it”.
But, we both know, that was so yesterday.

Every time something good happens to you,
You feel totally unworthy of it.
But, that’s definitely not true!

You are AMAZING!
You are IMPORTANT and WANTED!
Things are CHANGING!
(for the better)

Life’s not always great.
Trust me, I know!
But, don’t be afraid!

You think: “This is rock bottom.
It can’t get any worse.
I probably can’t even make it to next autumn!”

But, please, erase those thoughts from your mind!
I NEED YOU – I will be your friend and give you the support you need!
I promise, I will always be kind!

So, if you’re at rock bottom now,
The only way to go is up – To the sky!
There may be rain now, but when you get up there, you’ll see a rainbow!

So, continue to hustle everyday!
Become better and happier!
Turn the black darkness to white brightness; or at least semi-bright gray!

BE OPTIMISTIC!

Persevere!
Never give up!
I need you here!

WE need you here!
Please stay!
The world needs YOU! – Are we clear?

So, will you stay?
And persevere?
And hustle harder everyday?

I sure hope you do!
And, I know many others do to!
So, it’s decided.
You’re staying!
Trust me, you’ll look back on this day, and remember that you succeeded,
In your biggest roadblock, you decided to stay!
And, you hustled even though you didn’t feel like it!
You didn’t give up
Even during your darkest days,
And that’s something to be SUPER proud of!

I have a question…

I said that phrase SO MANY (more like TOO MANY) times when I was living in Chile.

Or, at least, that’s what I told myself because I thought I was getting annoying, but, turns out people didn’t mind answering my questions; and I learned so much by asking all those questions during those 3 months.

Ask all the questions you could possibly ask in a day. It’s the only way you’ll learn and remember anything!

Asking questions will get you so much farther than thinking you know everything ever will!

This post: Una Publicaciรณn en Espaรฑol

Was not just written overnight. It took 3 months of hard work and dedication.

You see, I lived in Chile for 3 months and asked way more than 10 questions per day about the language and culture. And, I did my best to speak Spanish as much as I could, whenever I could. And, one day, a few weeks before I was set to depart, my chilean family told me that my Spanish had improved since they first met me, months ago. And, they told me that I speak well (when I finally have enough courage to say something), which made me happy and proud of myself because it was the moment I realized it was all worth it, and that I definitely wanted to continue learning Spanish. So, I decided to write a short post to show myself how far I came in those 3 months full of questions and doubts (those questions and doubts led to fluency).

At first, I was super afraid of being judge for my accent and my knowledge of the language because whenever I didn’t know something I didn’t feel worthy to speak the language. And, so, for the first few weeks I didn’t say much, I just observed. And, soon after, I decided to start asking people about the things I didn’t know. And, whether or not I got a serious answer, I would inevitably learn something, everyday. So, I did this everyday, for 3 months. And, by the end, I was having conversations in Spanish.

I spoke Spanish.

I heard Spanish.

I saw spanish.

I listened to music in Spanish.

I watched movies in Spanish.

I participated in Spanish conversations.

I lived in a Spanish country; I lived Spanish (Chilean), for 3 months.

Instead of telling myself that I wasn’t worthy of speaking the language or that I would just be made fun of, so I shouldn’t try to learn the language; I told myself to ask at least 1 question per day (that quickly turned into 10). And, before I knew it I was becoming fluent in Spanish.

So, my point in sharing that story was to tell you that, if you ever find yourself in a situation where you feel dumb, and you feel like you’re not worthy of knowing the answer, or you’re scared of not being good enough; just start Asking all the questions and Learn something new everyday!

Thanks for reading! And remember:

You must strive to better yourself everyday because you’ll soon realize that, deep down, you knew the answers all along.

Weekend Coffee Share…

Hi! How are you? Thanks again for waking up so early (6am) to chat/read.
If you didn’t read last weekend’s coffee share, click here: Weekend coffee shareโ€ฆ

“Black & White. The 2 most important colors to a writer.”

So, for this weekend’s coffee share, I’m going to share my thoughts about that ^ statement with you.

So, first, when people ask you: “Why do you write?”
-What do you normally answer?

. . .

For me, I used to just answer: “Because I want to share my adventuresspread positivity…& encourage others to travel.”.
But, while that is definitely still true, my answer has slightly changed since I started writing because I, now, understand what makes writing so exciting & fascinating.

. . .

1- I find it fascinating that some simple black letters on a white page can make for such an interesting story.

2- I find it fascinating that I can form words & sentences with those black letters that will really POP on the white page.

3- I find it fascinating that black & white are the simplest colors yet, they create the best images & tell the biggest stories.

4- I find it fascinating that I can invent my own words to explain something, & I don’t fail because of it, I actually get positive feedback.

5- I find it fascinating that I can share my adventures with others so vividly that they can sense that they’re there as well.

6- I find it fascinating that simply writing (or typing) a single page (of anything) can be an escape from reality.

7- I find it fascinating that the simplest words make the biggest impact on a story. Without one specific word, a story changes drastically.

8- I find it fascinating that I can be creative & create something without actually drawing. (Which is good cuz I’m not great at drawing.)

9- I find it fascinating that I can create a vivid image without drawing, & using only the colors, black & white.

Thanks for reading!

Now, it’s your turn to share! In the comments, answer the question: “Why do you write?”

The good ol’ days!

I miss the days when I used to play outside everyday after school.
I miss the days when I would run around my block with friends and neighbours doing crazy and stupid things.
I miss the days when we’d laugh all evening until the sun set.
I miss those days because I always thought we’d see each other again tomorrow.
But, one day, tomorrow never came..
We all eventually moved away from that neighborhood.
And, without a trace, we all forgot about those days.

. . .

And, although, I have put those days behind me, sometimes I get reminded of those days. I’m reminded about how simple life used to be.
I think about what life would be like if none of us ever moved away.
But, then I remember that those days are in the past.
And, I realize that the past has made me who I am today.

I just miss the simplicity of how it used to be.
But, that’s what makes it such a good memory.
It’s a simple memory, that has taught me so much.

Those people I ran the streets of that neighborhood with.
And, the people I went to school with.
They have unconsciously taught me things that have formed me into the person I am today.
And, I wouldn’t change a thing!

. . .

I don’t have any idea what those people are doing now but, it really doesn’t matter because those were “the good ol’ days” for a reason.
And, in a way, I don’t really want to know what they are doing today.
I’d rather just keep the good & simple memories of those days because of those days and those memories, I am happy with the person I am today and I am proud of my younger self for everything I learned; even though sometimes it was more difficult than I felt like I could handle in the moment. But now, I am proud of everything. And, one day, I might meet those people. And, I won’t say much. I’ll simply thank them for everything we went through together.
They call them “the good ol’ days” because they are meant to stay in our past as old memories that will continue to teach us lessons throughout life.
And, no matter what your “good ol’ days” memory is (if it’s good or bad), just know that it is very important because:

Your past does not (and will never) DEFINE you,
but, it sure does SHAPE who you are and who you will become!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post reminded you of your “good ol’ days” and helped you realize how far you’ve come!

Weekend coffee share…

So, first of all, if we were having coffee right now, it would be 6 am because that’s the only time we could meet, as I work all weekend until the end of the day.

. . .

So, it’s 6 am.

It’s so early that the sun has barely risen. But, at least it is sunny. Spring is finally catching up (hopefully it continues).

. . .

If we were having coffee right now, I would be asking you about your week and plans for the weekend (and i’d probably be a little jealous). I’d ask you how school or work is going. I’d ask you how your week went…

I’d honestly probably just ask you questions, until you asked me something (I’m not one to just talk about myself voluntarily).

But, for the sake of this post, let’s pretend you’ve already asked me questions.

. . .

Then, I would tell you how tired I am this morning. I would tell you how much I just want to be sleeping in today, instead of working.

I would tell you how much I miss living in Chile, where I didn’t have wake up so early or wait for the sun to come out everyday.

I would show you some picture from my trip and tell you that you have to visit the country one day.

I would tell you that I’m so tired that this coffee isn’t even waking me up.

I would tell you that I just want to be sitting on a plane right now, instead of waiting for my bus to work.

I would tell you how much it means to me that you woke up at 6 am on your day off just to talk, small talk, for a few minutes.

I would tell you that I should get to work, but I am really thankful for the short time you took to talk, this early on a Sunday morning.

Then, we would probably hug.

I’d say: “have a good day off” and you’d say: “you too”.

And, then, we’d laugh and you’d correct yourself and say: “…good day, at work, I mean. See you next time!”

I’d smile, and say: “ya, next time…Maybe not so early, with more time to just sit.”.

And, finally, we’d wave goodbye!

That’s what it would probably be like, if we met this morning for a cup of coffee.

Thanks for reading this post!

P.S. I actually did write this post on the bus at 7 am. And, I’m thinking about maybe doing one every weekend as something new to try on this blog, so please let me know what you think in the comments.

Every Mile Matters…

It’s history
You can’t rewrite it
You’re not meant to be trapped inside it
Every tear brought you here
Every sorrow gathered
Yeah, it’s history
And every mile mattered

. . .

Life is full of ups and downs…

it’s full of good decisions and bad decisions…

. . .

Right now you’re either at a point in your life that you’re super proud of, or you’re telling yourself everyday that you’re a disappointment.

Things are either going your way or not quite what you want, but, either way you are always making decisions that will impact your tomorrow self. Those decisions could change your life in an instant (good or bad).

So, just remember that, next time you are faced with an important decision, just know that whatever you decide you will inevitably learn something from it.

. . .

“Every Mile Matters!”

You see, travelers don’t get disappointed when they don’t see/do exaxtly what they wanted in a new country because they know that what they did see mattered and will probably lead to something else that will be unexpectedly amazing.

“Every decisions has an impact!”

Just like in life, you can’t get disappointed when you think you made a terrible mistake. You can’t wish you chose the other option; all you can do is live in the moment and learn from every decision you make each day.

Thanks for reading! I hope this post inspired you in some way! ๐Ÿ™‚

Face the fact!

Do YOU own a passport?

Fact: Did you know that more than half of the people that live in North America don’t own a passport?

. . .

Now, I don’t know exactly how many people live in North America, but it’s definitely a fair amount. And, the fact that only half of us own a passport is very sad.
I can’t believe that many people don’t see the need to own a passport and travel to another country.
A passport is like the best and most valuable thing you can own.
You can travel anywhere and fill your passport with stamps, your heart with memories and your brain with knowledge.

. . .

So, I just googled it, and found out that about 579 million people live in North America and only about half of them own a passport.
That means that about 290 million people in North America alone (I don’t know about in the rest of the world) don’t own a passport!

In my opinion, that’s not a good ratio, at all. (50% is not a good grade)
That means that about 290 million North American have never traveled to another country. They have never left their comfort zone.
They might never go to a passport office.
They might never hold a passport in their hands.
They might never get that feeling of excitement when they see that first stamp in their passport.
They will not know what it’s really like to visit another country.
They will never hear another language in a foreign country.
They will never get that thrill of taking-off in a plane for the first time.
They will never know the feeling of stepping foot into an unknown country.
They will never experience the excitement and adrenaline of going to a foreign country.

All these reasons used to make me sad for those people, but, after writing them down, they just confuse me.

How can someone not want to travel and experience all those things?
How can someone be so afraid to leave their comfort zone that they refuse to get a passport? (it’s really quite simple, just take a picture & fill out a form)
How can someone be happy and content with their home country, knowing that there is so much out there to explore?

I mean, seriously though, a passport is truly the most valuable thing you can own.

So, if you are one of those people that doesn’t own a passport, just try one thing.
Instead of buying that new smartphone or laptop, go purchase your first passport because for one, it’s cheaper and, the passport will actually make you feel richer.
You probably think you will never use it, but I promise, once you own one and hold it in your own hands, you will want to use it and fill it up with stamps and memories.

AND, IF YOU’RE STILL NOT CONVINCED THAT YOU SHOULD PURCHASE A PASSPORT, HERE ARE A FEW QUOTES THAT MIGHT ENTICE YOU EVEN MORE!

Passport
The stamps that fill your passport will become your best memories and amazing stories!

Passport2
The more you travel, the more open-minded you become about the world & other people & cultures!

Passport3
This one speaks for itself!

Passport5
Whenever you purchase a new passport, Travel so much that you need to buy a new one for each new adventure!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this encouraged you to, either:
Buy a passport!
or
Start using your passport more often!
Because no one should ever regret traveling!

Put in the work!

d433fef056372e0edadafaf4af5626e1--fitnessmotivation-so-true

You can’t just put in work when you feel like it.
Success won’t come overnight.
Your dreams won’t accomplish themselves.

Whatever it is that you want to accomplish; YOU have to put in the work EVERYDAY!
Results come with consistency and patience!

. . .

I’ve been living in Chile for 2 months and I can truly say that putting in the work is 100% worth it.
There are days (especially during my first month of living here) when I don’t feel like trying to speak Spanish, and as a result, during the day I feel lost and alone. I’m not trying to understand what people are saying and I don’t feel like trying to speak (my broken) Spanish, and as a result, I isolate myself.
But, during the days when I put in the work to listen and speak Spanish, I start to feel like I actually kind of fit in because I’m consciously listening and understanding to what people are saying and I actively try to speak Spanish the best I can and I start to feel understood and less alone.

. . .

Anyways, this post is just your Sunday reminder that whatever you want to accomplish this week, you can’t just sit there and say: “I’ll get there 1 day, I have all week anyways.”.
You have to get up now and actively work for what you want!

Putting in the work will always lead to great things!

“Slang” palabras en espaรฑol…

So, I’ve thought about writing a post in Spanish, but to be honest, I don’t know if my level of Spanish is ready to write a full post in Spanish (but I will soon, hopefully).
So, I thought, instead, I’ll just write a few new Chilean slang words I’ve learned (because Chileans use a lot of slang).

. . .

    1. Cachai
This is the first slang word I learned and the one I remember the most because it’s used a lot and it’s probably the simplest to understand.
It simply means: “Do you understand?” or more specifically “Did you catch that?”
    2. Luka
      This is an interesting one.
It means: thousand. (5 thousand pesos = 5 lukas)
    3. Al Tiro
This one simply means: Right now, immediatly.
    4. Bacรกn
This one is interesting because in other latin american countries, it can be a bad word, but in Chile, it means: Excellent (used like the word โ€˜coolโ€™).
    5. Fome
This one is used when something is: Boring
    6. Once / Tecito
Refers to supper time, more specifically, tea time.
Chileans don’t use the term supper time. It goes: Breakfast (@10) – Lunch (@2or3) – Once (@9-10).
P.S. “Once” literally means ‘eleven’ and “tecito” literally means ‘little tea’.
    7. Picada
Refers to a lesser known place to get better products.
Example: The best spot to buy souvenirs would be refered to as: “Una picada de recuerdos”.
    8. Buena (prounced: wena)
This is a simple way to say: ok – good – hi – hey.
And, the tone of your voice really influences whether you’re truly excited or being sarcastic about something.
    9. Micro
This is the name for a city bus.
The word bus in Chilean refers to a big bus (tour bus type), and a micro refers to a smaller bus that stays within each city/town.
    10. Taco
This does not refer to mexican food. “Taco” refers to a traffic jam.

That’s all the slang words I can remember for today (more to come soon).

Thanks for reading!
P.S. If you know any more chilean slang; comment below.
Or, if you have interesting slang in your own language; comment that below as well. I’d love to learn about it.

My Favorite Type of Tree!

img_20180221_220355_2211418723548.jpg
Grow little tree, grow! You can do it! Don’t look behind you!

. . .

Behind the scene of that picture:

So, yesterday I went out for a walk around the town I live (Quillota) here in Chile. And, while walking, I started taking pictures of random things around town that might inspire a post or that I might want to post on Instagram. And, the picture above fit into both of those categories.
Here’s why:

I didn’t have any set goal in mind or place to be. I just stepped out the door with the thought of going out to wander because it was such a beautiful & sunny summer day in February that I had to take advantage of this weather and this beautiful country.
So, that’s what I did. I, seriously just walked around town; from one end to another (I walk until I reached the highway on both ends of town).
And, I after a while, I started heading back because I knew it would be supper time soon, and I didn’t want to make people worry. So, I started heading back, while still subconsciously searching for inspiration, so, I decided to walk back on the main road because I thought: “maybe the best inspiration will be hidden in plain sight”.
And, I was right, because that’s when I looked in the middle of the road at the palm trees planted all along the median, while the sun was perfect, the sky was a great colour of blue, the mountains were the perfect backdrop, the road was cleared… so, I crossed to the middle and took that picture (above).
And, while taking that picture, this sentence came to my mind: “Always Growing!”

~ Every picture has a story! ~

. . .

As the quote under the picture says: “In life, you can’t keep looking behind you. Whether it’s at your past self or others, you have to keep looking forward in order to keep growing.”.
Everyone grows differently and at a different pace.
We are similar to the tree in that way because we all started from something small, but there was that one thing that happened in our life that started our growth; Either through fear, sadness or happiness, and since then, we will always be growing a little each and every day.

Thanks for reading!
I hope this inspired you to: “Grow little tree, grow! You can do it! Don’t look behind you!” because you are doing a great job and you are amazing!

Third world country?

So, today, I just learned that chile is a “third world country”.

. . .ย

I mean, I know, I should’ve known before coming here and done some research about it, but it just didn’t occur to me. Chile doesn’t seem like any of the other “third world countries” I’ve visited; there’s something about it that blinded me from the fact that it actually is a “third world country”.ย

To me, it’s just different because it’s below the equator, so I just assumed everything is obviously different, and backwards (like, the seasons), so, I didn’t think much about it. I just accepted the fact that the seasons and stuff were backwards and different.

But, now that I know it’s a “third world country”, my view of it has changed, for the better.
Now that I know, it’s easier to compare things from my home country because I know why things are different.
I guess I would say that, now that I know, I’m “nicer” to the country and the differences I notice because in my mind, it’s doing a great job being a successful (for lack of better word)ย “third world country”.
I mean, seriously, though, I’ve been living here for about a month an a half, and I just realized it now because I heard someone say it.
I never felt the need to research what kind of country it was because it seemed so similar from my home country, with a few interesting differences that I love learning about.ย

And, I think that the fact that it’s not an obvious “third world country”ย is a great thing for this country.
I know, I don’t know anything about the politics about this country (although now I want to learn more about it).
But, I do know that, if a tourist visits this country for a week or so, they will most likely not feel like they are in a “third world country”. Unless they come with a mission in mind to help the poor or something, but otherwise, if people come here for a vacation, and don’t think about the politics or research it, they will probably never know.

. . .

All that, just to say:
“A country that you might be afraid to visit, or, that you don’t think is worth visiting because it doesn’t seem like it will have much to offer tourists” might be you missing out on something truly interesting to see/learn about.
So, if you’re thinking about visiting a “not-so-popular”ย country, think about what you could gain from the experience & what you could learn, instead of what the country has to offer for tourists. And, don’t research the country too much before going; save some learning for when you arrive in the country.

Be a local, as well as, a tourist in a new country!
(You learn much more by being both!)

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post inspired you to visit different countries for more than just a “laying-in-the-sun” type of vacation; to truly experience a new country.

Perspective… / A Day in Valparaiso, Chile!

20180210_1632322134438477.jpg20180210_1630481316262407.jpg

“Perspective changes everything!”

. . .

So, recently I took a trip to Valparaiso, Chile & I had the best day there, just wandering the city! Here’s an “itinerary” of that trip:

1- I took the bus (1 hour) to Valparaiso alone, and didn’t get lost once!

20180210_133642 20180210_191648

2- I explored and wandered the beautiful city of Valparaiso!

20180210_153549 20180210_154844 20180210_155427

3- My eyes were truly open to everything I saw today!

20180210_164212

4- I was completely present in the moment today, which made my adventuring, wandering & exploring so much better!

20180210_163330

5- Like the title & the picture hint: I got perspective thrown at me in multiple ways today!

20180210_163115

. . .

Perspective: The appearance of things relative to one another, as determined by their distance from the viewer.

So, the first picture you saw at the top of this page is a view standing from the top of a staircase in Valparaiso.
And, the next picture you saw at the top of this page is a view of the same staircase, but this time, standing right in front of it (instead of above it).

. . .

You see, this is why perspective is such an important concept because things are always different from where someone is standing.
Just like in life. People see things differently because they’re in different places in their own lives, this means that everyone has a different perspective about some/most things.

Nothing is the same for everyone because we all perceive things differently, which means that we all experience life differently.
That’s perspective! Being different & accepting different perspectives of the same things.

The picture from above the staircase could be someone’s view of that staircase for their entire life. Whereas, the picture in front of the staircase could be someoneย  else’s view of it for their entire life. But, this doesn’t mean that they aren’t both seeing the same staircase, they are just looking at it from where they are currently standing.
And, most people would be fine with just seeing it from their perspective for their entire life, but, what I’m trying to encourage you to do after reading this post is: to always try and look at things from different perspectives because you never know what you could discover, just by shifting your focus.

“Don’t stay in the same spot for your whole life
(don’t stay at the top of the staircase for your entire life)!
Change your perspective
(come down & look at it from a different perspective)!”

Change your PERSPECTIVE! It might just change EVERYTHING!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post inspired you to search for a new perspective in your life!

P.S. Valparaiso is truly a beautiful city, & if you’re ever in Chile, I highly recommend taking a trip here to see this beautiful city for yourself! You won’t regret it, it will definitely help you understand the concept of perspective!
