I See You…

Dear beautiful child,

I see you
You are worthy
I love you
You are perfect
I am for you
You are not alone

Child, you’re beautiful
You’re wonderfully made
And when I formed you
I made no mistakes
I’ve always adored you
And nothing has changed

I see you
Even when you can’t
Just look to me
Through my eyes
You will see
The world and you

Child, you’re beautiful
You’re wonderfully made
And when I formed you
I made no mistakes
I’ve always adored you
And nothing has changed

I see you
You are clean
I’ve redeemed you
You are free
I’ve formed you
You are not a mistake
I adore you

Please believe
This truth I tell you
Take courage
Hope in me
I will never leave you
Please hear my words

What you say
To yourself
Can hurt
But when I say
I see you
I mean it

Start over…

I’m not afraid
of starting over
because I know
an amazing God
that always forgives
and always gives
unlimited second chances.

I don’t fear
the starting line
because I know
a perfect God
that deserves all
my fears, failures
and future anxieties.

I have joy
in new days
because I know
a joyful God
that makes plans
for all my
days before me.

I’m not afraid
to start again
because I know
a powerful God
that protects me
and moves mountains
just for me.

I live freely
in the chaos
because I know
a loving God
that always protects
comforts and loves
me every day.

I hope this post reminded you that starting over doesn’t have to be a bad thing; sometimes it can lead to even greater things! It’s not always about starting over, sometimes it’s about starting again, and getting a fresh start!

Cafe Saturday

Sitting here
Starring out

Into the city
From this cafe
I can’t help

But think
How God
Did I
Get here?

Just a random
Saturday in winter
Here in Australia
With
So many visions
So many dreams
So many plans
Just chasing God
With my life
And so far
He has never
Let me down
And
Here I am
Just sitting here
In His presence
In the comfort
In the love
In the protection
Of my Father

He has
Always been
Holding me
Protecting me
Fighting battles
All so
I would
Never worry

I know a God
That worries for me
He takes my burdens
And frees me from
EVERYTHING
And –
He gives me
A Saturday filled
With His love

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post reminded you that God is always with you (even on a random Saturday in a foreign city in a random cafe). He is everywhere, ready to protect & comfort you!

Finding Freedom by Popping Bubbles

If you don’t know where I’ve been for the past 4 months,
check out this post before reading the following story.

Running
Chasing
Catching
Finding
Discovering
Learning
Building
Working
Crying
Smiling
Laughing
Hiding
Hurting
Thinking
Talking
Processing
Praying

But, ultimately

Popping
Breaking
Destroying
Tearing
Shattering

This is my story from the past 4 months
about how I discovered my true freedom by popping bubbles:

You see, before coming to YWAM (Youth with a Mission) to do a DTS (Discipleship Training School), I used to have these bubbles. They were safe places where I could go to hide, where I could go to just feel safe, and where I could go to get away from everything. And, I was content in my own little world surrounded by these bubbles. Or, so I thought…

“Please don’t pop my bubbles!”

I felt content with my bubbles because they gave me a sense of safety. I liked looking at their beauty because they made me feel loved. I enjoyed their peacefulness because they made me feel comforable.

But, these bubbles would also really hurt me. I wouldn’t be able to let people get too close because they would pop them. Letting people get close enough to pop them seemed like a good and productive idea, but it never was because they never knew which bubbles to pop at the right time. They just wanted to pop them all right away before I was ready, which led to me being hurt often.

“Some people have no self-control with bubbles.”

So, during the past 4 months, I’ve been slowly learning that I am the one that gets to decide when I’m ready to pop a bubble. When I know I’m ready to pop a bubble, that’s when I can let others in to help and encourage me in the process.
I’ve learned that I can’t just let people get close enough and expect them to not pop any bubbles. So, I need to know when the right time for me is to let people get close enough to avoid being hurt by them choosing which bubbbles to pop in their timing.

“Stop! That’s too much, too fast; slow down please!”

So, I’ve learned that in order to let people get close enough, I need to start popping these bubbles on my own (with help & support) because it’s the only way I will feel ready to pop each bubble.
I’ve discovered that only when I’m truly ready to pop a bubble / get rid of something will I feel complete freedom from it.

“It won’t hurt if you’re ready.”

Sometimes I might think I’m not ready, but that’s when I learn how much power fear has in my decisions. Sometimes it takes others to encourage the popping of bubbles.

Freedom won’t be comfortable at first; it takes courage to allow hurt to enter our lives. But, when we start seeing the process of popping bubbles as an exciting and joyful time, we forget about the hurt because we start to see our life in a new, clear way; without the distraction of bubbles.

“Freedom is right in from of you! But, will you choose it?”

Freedom is an interesting concept because they say it’s freely given to you, and you can take it when you want. But, they fail to mention how much it hurts to actually receive it because it costs’ your total comfort. But, that’s when you have to ask yourself:

“Is freedom worth your comfort?”

Well, during the past 4 months, I’ve learned that my answer is definitely YES.
I’ve decided that I am fully willing to step out of my comfort zone to gain freedom because it’s so worth it, and at the end of the day I can’t hold onto them forever anyway.
I’ve realized that if giving-up my self-made comforts is all I need to do to receive true freedom then, I am willing to pop any bubbles that stop me from receiving this amazing freedom.

And, that’s my story from the past 4 months.

Thanks for reading!
I hope this inpsired you to think about the things in your life that could be holding you back from receiving true freedom. If I’ve learned anything during this time, it’s that:
TRUE FREEDOM IS WORTH SO MUCH MORE THAN YOUR COMFORT!

Spiral…

“Sometimes on this journey,
I get lost in my own mistakes.
But, my story isn’t over,
my story’s just begun.”

Can you hear me?
I’m spiraling.
Help!

Where am I?
I’m stuck in my thoughts.
Help!

When will this end?
I’m tired of always fighting.
Help!

Is anyone out there?
I’m begging to be free.
Help!

I feel like I’m:

Loosing myself
Brewing in self hatred
Swallowing with guilt
Thinking too much
Breaking everything I touch
Talking down to myself
Coping with the pain wrongly
Trying to change myself
Feeling like giving up
Dwelling on my past
Building my walls up higher
Learning to trust no one

God, I’m drowing
Deeper and deeper
Will you release me from this spiral?

My thoughts & emotions
Have taken over
Can you get them back?

God, I need you
And your amazing love
Will you help me?

I’ve lost the will to fight
I feel like giving up
Will you free me from this pain?

God, I need you
To remind me of your presence
Can you show me your love?

With God, I feel like I’m:

Winning back myself
Brewing in His love
Swallowing with ease
Thinking to gain wisdom
Breaking down walls
Talking about the truth
Swearing to never go back
Striving to be better
Feeling His love
Dwelling in His presence
Building friendships
Learning to trust again

Thanks for reading!
I hope this reminded you that you can always call out to God in difficult times,
& He will always listen and help you because:

YOU NEVER HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ALONE!

No More Hiding!

My time has come
Hope has won
I’ve been found

Fear is gone
Love has won
I’ve been covered

The lies are gone
Truth has won
I’ve been set free from doubts

Broken love has vanished
Peace has won
I’ve stopped running

Quitting has no place here
Comfort has won
I’ve found my home

Hiding places have disappeared
Light has won
I’ve started shinning

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post encouraged you to come out of hiding
because life really is so much better when you are free!
Don’t hide who you are because it’s only hurting you;
God is waiting for you to realize that you have been found!
He is greater than all your fears; stop hiding & trust Him!

Tearing Down Walls

I’ve built up so many walls.
It might take some time to tear them all down.
But, I’m working on it.
Slowly…

It took me my whole life to build these walls.
I’ve worked every day of my life.
I’m proud of this work I’ve done.
But, I think I’m ready to tear them down.

I’m ready to feel free.
I’m tired of hiding behind these walls.
I feel like I’m suffocating.
I need to breathe again.

These walls are not helping me.
These walls are hurting me.
These walls are depressing.

I thought I needed them.
To feel safe.
To feel secure.
To feel happy.
To feel good.

But, I think I’m wrong.
I think these walls are stopping me.
I think these walls are holding me back.
I think I need to break down these walls.

But, how?

How do I tear down my whole life?
How do I forget about it all?
How can I leave it all behind me?

I haven’t exactly found an answer to that question, but here’s a song that has helped me start to understand why these walls are hurting me.

Never Lost – Song

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post encourages you & reminds you that it’s never too late to break down the walls.

Solo Travel Tip #2

Be your best friend!

You can stay in hostels!
You can make friends everywhere possible!
But, that doesn’t change the fact that you need to be your best friend.
You will inevitably have alone time, so you will be alone with your thoughts, which means that you need to make sure they’re positive ones.

You need to be your best friend, which means telling yourself everything, and being completely honest with yourself, no matter what.
You need to call yourself out on things.
You need to congratulate yourself on a job well done.
You need to love yourself (through the good and the bad times).

Solo traveling can be really freeing, and relaxing, but you need to remember that you are solo traveling; you won’t have people to encourage you 24/7. You need to do that!

So, no matter how great, and exciting solo traveling is, remember that you need to be your best friend because you will inevitably end up exploring places alone. And, when that happens you will get feel alone, and abandoned, unless you’re your best friend.

So, when traveling abroad to a foreign country, you can make all the international friends you want (which I highly recommend!), but you still need to make sure that YOU are YOUR BEST FRIEND.

Thanks for reading!

I didn’t mean to make this post so direct (and a little depressing).
Solo traveling is truly amazing, but it only is freeing if you really are your own best friend (through the good & bad!).
So, if you are traveling to a foreign country, make sure that you are comfortable with being your own best friend.

Solo Traveling Tip #1

YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO DO EVERYTHING, BUT THAT’S OKAY!

. . .

So, a few days ago, I went out with the expectation of doing a tour of a really tall, historical palace in Buenos Aires, and towards the end of the tour you get to go to the very top to get a full 360 view of the city.
I was super excited for this adventure, to learn more history, and honestly, to get a good Instagram picture. But, when I arrived I learned that it was WAY out of my budget, and I really could not afford it (if I wanted to eat that week).
So, with a saddened heart, I decided not spend that money (food is more important). But, also because budget traveling is all about planning your adventures, and choosing which ones are worthwhile, and which ones you could live without.
And, sure, it wasn’t easy turning down this great adventure, but I quickly realized that I would be able to do and see so much more with that money.

Saving that money will actually help me go to another country, so in the long run, it will be worth it because I’ll get to see another country, instead of a view of a city that I can walk around and explore.

. . .

So, that’s my budget travel lesson for you.
~ You won’t be able to afford to do everything that looks fun and exciting, but that’s okay because you’re still be in another country. You can explore and learn about that country by exploring the streets and finding free tours. ~ Free; the budget travelers’ favorite word.
Don’t get discouraged when you can’t afford to do something you really want to do. Just remember that you are still experiencing another culture, and that’s pretty amazing! So, just get out there and explore!

. . .

Oh, and by the way, I might not have been able to afford that tour and amazing view, but a few days later, I found a great view of the city for literally 7 times cheaper.
So, the real lesson here is to search for all your options.

I think this view makes up for that expensive tour!
This view is just as good, for much, much cheaper.
This just shows what you can find on a budget.
Click the picture to see the location of this amazing breathtaking view!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this helped you realize that budget traveling might not be glamorous, but it’s definitely worth it!
You can still have an amazing experience and adventure in a foreign country on a budget! Don’t let that stop you from traveling abroad (you’ll learn more traveling on a budget than you would if you could afford all the fancy hotels)!

Fly!

Super strength or invisibility…
Which one
is the best
superpower?

I don’t know…

I just wish
I could fly!

To get a full view
of the world,
without distractions,
or pressures,
from surrounding sources.

To just
see
the world.

No one to tell me
How,
or
What,
or
Where,
to look.

Oh, how I wish
I could fly!

To be free!
To feel
Complete freedom
from everything
Down here
There are too many restrictions & distractions!

Oh, how I wish
I could fly!

To better understand
the people in the world.
To get their attention,
and show them
and tell them
that they can wish
to fly,
one day too.

Oh, how I wish
I could fly...
