Living Vulnerably

To go back
To the moment
Where it was simple
When trust was easy
Oh, to get closer to that

Now…

To live
A life of vulnerability
In communion
In the garden

To abide
In your presence
Everyday
Where nothing
Must be proven

To live
In your love
In daily communion
In a life of vulnerability
With you

That’s what I strive for
Everyday
To be vulnerable
And live fully
As myself
With my best friend β€”
My Abba Father

This poem was inspired by:

my word of the month:
“vulnerability” – noun: vulnerability; plural noun: vulnerabilities – the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.

Wednesdays Across TimeZones

So, me and my sister both have YouTube channels, and a few days ago, we were talking and we decided it would be cool to document our typical Wednesdays, to see the differences between Wednesday, February 3 in Canada v.s. Australia.
Also, keep in mind that we live very different lives. So, while being a typical Wednesday for us; it looks very different for both of us, in general.

Here are the links to those videos:

Thanks for reading and watching!

Godly Expectations Released

What can I do?
How can I live rightly?
When will it be enough?

You’ve probably asked yourself these questions before (at least once).
Well, here’s a poem with the answer to how you can truly fulfill God’s expectations:

There’s nothing
you can do.
It will never
be enough.

Stop placing overwhelming
expectations on yourself
to please God
and others.

He never expects
anything – ever.
Just pure love and
mustard seed sized faith.

Don’t ruin
His perfection
by making Him
unattainable.

He loves you
simply because
that’s just
who He is.

No expectations
or other motives.
Just simple – perfect
fatherly love.

Stop putting Him
in a box
that’s out of reach and
start accepting His love!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this encouraged you to release your expectations of yourself, others, and God; and start living in perfect freedom with Him.

This poem was inspired by THIS SONG!

The Moon Keeps Shinning!

As I sit here
under the stars
starring at the moon
watching the clouds go by
listening to my best friend
I can’t help
but be intrigued
by the metaphor
in front of me
in the brightness
of the moon

It just keeps shinning
no matter how dark
the clouds get
or how many
clouds cover it
it never dims it’s light

That’s the metaphor

And that’s what
I’m learning
and striving to be
more like the moon

To never
let the darkness
dim my light

Thanks for reading! I hope this poem inspired you to keep shinning; even in the darkest of places & times because the Light of the world can live inside of you. And, when it does, your light will never fade!

Simpler Times…

click the picture to listen to the song
that inspired the following post

wishing
dreaming
hoping
for
simpler times
to come back
when everything
was so much better
can we rewind
to those times
the memories are fading
I can’t remember
what it used to be like
I just wanna go back
to those moments
where no cares were had
and no pain was felt
the moments when everything
seemed perfect
what happened to that perfection
to that bliss
where did those moments go
when did the pain get real
when did this chaos begin
where did time go
what happened to the laughter
why did everyone leave
my heart aches
for simpler times

times
when
jumping
in a
pile
of
leaves
was the
highlight
of my
day

I miss the days
when I had no worries
and no doubts
when life was simpler
and happier
those simpler times
are just a distant
memory now
that I can’t get back
no matter what
those days
are gone

I guess
I just gotta embrace
the now
the times today
simple or not
this is the present
let’s make it a gift
live in the moment
hopeless or hopeful
these times are all I have
now is the time
to embrace this moment

embrace the now
miss the simpler times
that’s just life
it goes on
miss the simpler times
but keep moving
forward to better things
remaining hopeful
for better times

Thanks for reading! I hope this inspired you to remember the simpler times behind you, and to keep looking forward to create more good times.
Let’s go into 2021 with hopeful eyes, and big dreams that we can’t wait to conquer this new year!

These Dry Bones Will Live!

His mighty hand
Brought me out
And His Spirit
Sit me down
In the middle
Of the valley

Surrounded by dry bones
He led me out
He breathed His life
And they came alive
He sent His Spirit
Revealed Himself as Yahweh
And won the battle

These dry bones
Have come alive
By His grace
He has risen
These dry bones

This post was inspired by this song!

Start over…

I’m not afraid
of starting over
because I know
an amazing God
that always forgives
and always gives
unlimited second chances.

I don’t fear
the starting line
because I know
a perfect God
that deserves all
my fears, failures
and future anxieties.

I have joy
in new days
because I know
a joyful God
that makes plans
for all my
days before me.

I’m not afraid
to start again
because I know
a powerful God
that protects me
and moves mountains
just for me.

I live freely
in the chaos
because I know
a loving God
that always protects
comforts and loves
me every day.

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post reminded you that starting over doesn’t have to be a bad thing; sometimes it can lead to even greater things! It’s not always about starting over, sometimes it’s about starting again, and getting a fresh start!

Hello October!

So, it’s been a month since I’ve made the commitment to stay in Australia for 2 years,
and I’ve already been learning so much!
A few weeks ago, I read this book called “With” by Skye Jethani,
and felt like it was really relevant for this new season I’m stepping into,
so I decided to write a poem about it in hopes to encourage anyone else stepping into a new season of life.

Trust
is a process.
Finding
a place to belong
takes time.
But
when we choose
life with God
and
we start to
trust the process
of His plan –
Bam! –
Trust becomes easier!

Battles are not
won alone
or with anyone,
but
with God.
That’s why we
live for His fame
and
die for our gain;
Because we
trust that HE knows best.
So we
ignore the haters
and
continue to live
life with Him!

Living life
WITH
God
is the key
to living life
to our fullest
potential!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this inspired you to live life to your fullest potential in this new season with the One who gives you all your gifts & abilities because that’s the way to find true joy in new seasons of life!

At the centre of it all…

When we keep God
At the centre
Good things happen

Feeling far away
Is the result
Of imbalance

The balance of life
Will inevitably tip
If we take God off centre

Life becomes a game
A balancing act
Of keeping God centered

It’s a confusing game
We think it’s difficult
But it doesn’t even take much effort

Life with God
At the centre
Is the simplest life

It’s the easiest
And best
Way to live

When the balance
Is even & steady
Life feels perfect

Keeping it that way
Might take effort
And feel difficult
But…
The centering game
Is the most rewarding
Gift from God

Thanks for reading!
I hope this reminded you to keep God at the centre of your life because where He is at the centre, He will do amazing things in & with your life!

Living in the Unknown

Alone
In a country
So far from
My own

With no ticket
To go home
For two years
This is it

Day by day
Growing
And ignoring
What the doubters say

Lost but not alone
Searching with God
Learning to live
In the unknown

This poem was inspired by:

I thank God everyday that He has a plan for my life
that is bigger & better than I could ever dream!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this poem reminded you that living in the unknown is the best decision ever because when God puts His plan for your life into action, amazing things will happen!

You have no idea… (a poem)

Ouch
that hurt
that was triggering
that made me feel sad
But…
then again
you have no idea
how much pain I feel
Because…
it’s concealed
hidden away
pushed deep down
out of sight
out of reach
no one can know
about this pain
inside me
But…
only one has an idea
only God knows

You have no idea

And you never will
even if I explain
myself
and tell you my
life story
you will never
truly understand
what I battle with
on the inside
everyday
without fail
it’s always there
a constant battle

You have no idea

I live
I laugh
I smile
I joke
I act like it’s all okay
But…
deep down
it’s not
at all
I want to die
some days
I have no more strength
to fight another day
But…
somehow I find it
God gives it to me
enough strength
to make it through
another day

And that’s why
You have no idea

I started this battle alone, and I will continue to fight it alone with God because:

I went on this journey of
comparison,
hating myself,
not seeing or feeling God’s love,
feeling defeated,
and unworthy.

But, when I finally realized
how much God truly loves me,
and cares for me (Matthew 6:26-34);

I started to see the world through His eyes,
the beauty around me in nature helped me
realize how much God loves His creations.
And, if He loves the trees, & animals;
How much more could He love me?

And, when I discovered that God loves me more than the trees He created,
I truly understood His amazing love for me!

Thanks for reading! I hope this reminded you that God is always with you, & He cares for all His creations equally (your past does not & will never change His love for you).

She had no idea…

That girl in the picture
Standing there
Smilling through the pain
Just living life

That girl in the picture
She never could’ve
Known or imagined
What was coming

That girl in the picure
Looking at the world
Blind to the future
She had no idea

That girl in the picture
She couldn’t even
Begin to prepare
For this!

Seriously!

How could she know?
How could she prepare?
How could she see?

She didn’t have a map –
Or a to-do list.
She just needed time.

Time is the key
Everything unfolds so quickly

Time to remember & forget
And, process it all

That girl in the picture
Wasn’t ready for this

So, give her time!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this poem inspired you to slow down & give yourself time to take a moment to enjoy life!

Be patient, enjoy life, &
trust His perfect timing!

YOU ARE…

A poem about your true identity!

The enemy will tell you that:

You are unworthy
You are alone
You are never chosen
You are ignored
You are untalented
You don’t belong
You are hopeless
You are stupid
You are ugly
You are weak
You are not valuable
You are nothing
You are not important
You are neglected
You are hiding
You are afraid
You should give up
You are a default
You are a failure
You don’t deserve anything
You are an outcast
You have no friends
You are invisible
You have no one
You are unwanted
You are worthless

But, God tells you that:

You are worthy
You are valuable
You are His beloved child
You are unique
You are kind
You are chosen by the King
You are talented
You are filled with hope
You are full of faith
You are smart
You are funny
You are strong
You are beautiful
You are important
You are everything to the Creator
You are accepted
You are brave
You are bold
You are His first choice
You are deserving
You are wanted
You are popular
You are worthy

And, most importantly,
YOU ARE LOVED!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this reminds you of your true identity, and encourages you to live in truth & freedom!

Living in a National Park! (video)

The peace, the mountains, the small town vibe, the locals, the tourists, the cafes, the hiking trails, the lakes, etc…

From every little thing; living in a small national park town is: “interesting”.
I can say from experience that it’s not for everyone, but everyone should definitely try to experience it at least once.
You can really learn a lot!
I’ve lived in a small national park town for a year now (6 months at a time), and I can truly say that each time, I’ve learned something new.
The first time, I didn’t like it so much, and I kept saying: “too small, not for me.”.
But, the second time, I was better prepared. I was mentally ready to enjoy the peace, hiking, cafes, tourists, locals, and everything that you get to experience when living in a small national park town.
And, so, I decided to make a video showing what it’s like to live, & work in a small national park town.

So, here’s my video experience from my time living and working in Jasper, Alberta, Canada: https://youtu.be/bVHs7lSZfsI

7 months in S.A.

Wow! I can’t believe I’ve lived in South America for a total of 7 months.

. . .

Half a year of living on another continent.
Half a year of learning another language.
Half a year of living in another culture.

. . .

It’s crazy to think about all the things I’ve done / learned in the past 7 months.
And, I couldn’t possibly explain them all in one post.
So, instead, here’s a list of 7 things I learned during my experience living in South America for 7 months:

1. This first one’s obvious: I couldn’t live in South America without learning Spanish!
I’ve learned a lot of Spanish, and realized that I love learning languages!
See post: Foreign Language Classes Abroad!

2. I learned a lot about budget traveling, and how to budget with foreign currency.
See post: Budget Travel Tip #1!

3. I learned how to successfully, and happily spend the holidays while solo traveling abroad.
See post: Abroad for the holidays!

4. I learned a lot about Patience.
So much so, that I think it might be a separate post. Coming soon! πŸ˜‰

5. I learned how to be my own best friend.
See post: Solo Travel Tip #1

6. I learned how to step out of my comfort zone more, and get the most out of every experience.
See post: Fear is Calling

7. And, lastly, I learned a bunch of other random things, like what I want to do with my life.
See post: 2019 resolutions

living in South America,

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post inspired you to travel, & step out of your comfort zone because it’s truly the best decision you will ever make.
And, although, traveling comes with ups and downs, one thing is for sure, I don’t regret one minute of my time abroad.

Homesickness…

At first you just shake it
You feel it for a moment
And, then, you forget it

You start living in the moment
With all the excitement
Of this new experience

But, soon you get tired
And, it catches up to you
You can’t shake it this time

You’ve learned, explored, experienced
Now, your brain is
tired ready
To go home

This new perspective
These new lessons
This new excitement

Ready to go home
And, see the world
Through your new view

Thanks for reading!
I hope this reminded you that if you ever feel homesick; remember that everything you are learning and experiencing will completely change your perspective.
So, enjoy your new experience and learn as much as you can because that’s what makes going home after a trip so exciting; you get to experience your home with a new perspective, in a completely different way!

The Life-Changing Ticket

A simple ticket
To fly to a foreign place
Without return plan

One simple purchase
That could change everything
It takes some courage

Will it be worth it?
Am I ready for this change?
When will I return?

Doing all of this
To spend a few months abroad
Learning and living

Day by day with faith
Not thinking about the past
Or the future

And, when I return
Will I be ready to start
And succeed again?

. . . (3 months later) . . .

Yup, I’m ready now
This experience was great
It changed so much

It’s crazy to think
About how much I’ve learned
All from one ticket

One small, simple step
Changed and taught me so much
That I won’t forget

One small decision,
And, step into the unknown
Can change your life!

Solo Traveling Tip #1

YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO DO EVERYTHING, BUT THAT’S OKAY!

. . .

So, a few days ago, I went out with the expectation of doing a tour of a really tall, historical palace in Buenos Aires, and towards the end of the tour you get to go to the very top to get a full 360 view of the city.
I was super excited for this adventure, to learn more history, and honestly, to get a good Instagram picture. But, when I arrived I learned that it was WAY out of my budget, and I really could not afford it (if I wanted to eat that week).
So, with a saddened heart, I decided not spend that money (food is more important). But, also because budget traveling is all about planning your adventures, and choosing which ones are worthwhile, and which ones you could live without.
And, sure, it wasn’t easy turning down this great adventure, but I quickly realized that I would be able to do and see so much more with that money.

Saving that money will actually help me go to another country, so in the long run, it will be worth it because I’ll get to see another country, instead of a view of a city that I can walk around and explore.

. . .

So, that’s my budget travel lesson for you.
~ You won’t be able to afford to do everything that looks fun and exciting, but that’s okay because you’re still be in another country. You can explore and learn about that country by exploring the streets and finding free tours. ~ Free; the budget travelers’ favorite word.
Don’t get discouraged when you can’t afford to do something you really want to do. Just remember that you are still experiencing another culture, and that’s pretty amazing! So, just get out there and explore!

. . .

Oh, and by the way, I might not have been able to afford that tour and amazing view, but a few days later, I found a great view of the city for literally 7 times cheaper.
So, the real lesson here is to search for all your options.

I think this view makes up for that expensive tour!
This view is just as good, for much, much cheaper.
This just shows what you can find on a budget.
Click the picture to see the location of this amazing breathtaking view!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this helped you realize that budget traveling might not be glamorous, but it’s definitely worth it!
You can still have an amazing experience and adventure in a foreign country on a budget! Don’t let that stop you from traveling abroad (you’ll learn more traveling on a budget than you would if you could afford all the fancy hotels)!

A new chapter!

Update on this blog, and my life:
A new chapter is startingΒ very soon (Dec. 5)!

. . .Β

I am “moving” to Argentina!Β
I say: “moving” because I will be living there for a minimum of 3 months (possibly, longer).
And, although I’m nervous and a little sadΒ (as this will be my first Christmas away from home);Β I’m also super excited because I have no idea what amazing things this next chapter will bring.
These mixed emotions inspired the following poem:

Remember, that:
Good things never come,
from comfort zones!

You can’t,
and you shouldn’t,
hide from fear!

You should;
Step out and,
face your fears!

Do all –
those things –
that scare you!

Live your life,
to the fullest and,Β
never let fears take over!

You can do so much,
more than you think!
All you have to do is…Β

…Seek discomfort! And,Β
step out of your comfort zone because
you will see amazing things happen in your life!

Thanks for reading!

P.S. I will be blogging about my experience, and adventures as much as I can,
so, I hope you will join me in this new chapter,
and live these adventures with me through my posts!
