Adulting / Living Abroad

There’s a lot to learn how to do all over again.

. . .

It doesn’t matter if you were a pro at all those things in your home country because everything will be different in a foreign country.

Yes, there will be similarities, and you will learn the differences quickly. But, you will still need to learn the best place to grocery shop, the best method of transportation to get around (bus, subway, taxi), and the currency (so you know when something is overpriced).

And, on top of discovering all those things, you will need to learn a foreign language.

AND, while you are learning ALL that, you also need to deal with homesickness and culture shock (at least for the first few months).

Now, I’m not saying all this to scare you. I personally have been loving my experience living abroad. I’m telling you all this so you know what’s coming: A LOT OF WORK AND DEDICATION! But, it’s 100% worth it.

Yes, there will be ups and downs. There will be days where you won’t want to speak the language (you’ll get tired of needing to train your brain in a foreign language everyday). There will be days where you’ll just want to do nothing. But, those days are the best because they will teach you the most.
If you power through those days, you will realize how worth it, it is, to learn to adult/live in a foreign country.
It will make it that much easier for your return to your home country. Adulting/living in a foreign country is an amazing, life-changing experience.

It really is LIFE-CHANGING because after you live in a foreign country for more than 2 or 3 months, your view of everything changes. But, the only way to understand this life-changing experience is to live it yourself!
So, step out of your comfort zone & live this amazing experience!

Thanks for reading!

I hope this inspired you to step out of your comfort zone and change your perspective!

Face the fact!

Do YOU own a passport?

Fact: Did you know that more than half of the people that live in North America don’t own a passport?

. . .

Now, I don’t know exactly how many people live in North America, but it’s definitely a fair amount. And, the fact that only half of us own a passport is very sad.
I can’t believe that many people don’t see the need to own a passport and travel to another country.
A passport is like the best and most valuable thing you can own.
You can travel anywhere and fill your passport with stamps, your heart with memories and your brain with knowledge.

. . .

So, I just googled it, and found out that about 579 million people live in North America and only about half of them own a passport.
That means that about 290 million people in North America alone (I don’t know about in the rest of the world) don’t own a passport!

In my opinion, that’s not a good ratio, at all. (50% is not a good grade)
That means that about 290 million North American have never traveled to another country. They have never left their comfort zone.
They might never go to a passport office.
They might never hold a passport in their hands.
They might never get that feeling of excitement when they see that first stamp in their passport.
They will not know what it’s really like to visit another country.
They will never hear another language in a foreign country.
They will never get that thrill of taking-off in a plane for the first time.
They will never know the feeling of stepping foot into an unknown country.
They will never experience the excitement and adrenaline of going to a foreign country.

All these reasons used to make me sad for those people, but, after writing them down, they just confuse me.

How can someone not want to travel and experience all those things?
How can someone be so afraid to leave their comfort zone that they refuse to get a passport? (it’s really quite simple, just take a picture & fill out a form)
How can someone be happy and content with their home country, knowing that there is so much out there to explore?

I mean, seriously though, a passport is truly the most valuable thing you can own.

So, if you are one of those people that doesn’t own a passport, just try one thing.
Instead of buying that new smartphone or laptop, go purchase your first passport because for one, it’s cheaper and, the passport will actually make you feel richer.
You probably think you will never use it, but I promise, once you own one and hold it in your own hands, you will want to use it and fill it up with stamps and memories.

AND, IF YOU’RE STILL NOT CONVINCED THAT YOU SHOULD PURCHASE A PASSPORT, HERE ARE A FEW QUOTES THAT MIGHT ENTICE YOU EVEN MORE!

Passport
The stamps that fill your passport will become your best memories and amazing stories!

Passport2
The more you travel, the more open-minded you become about the world & other people & cultures!

Passport3
This one speaks for itself!

Passport5
Whenever you purchase a new passport, Travel so much that you need to buy a new one for each new adventure!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this encouraged you to, either:
Buy a passport!
or
Start using your passport more often!
Because no one should ever regret traveling!

Wander Always…

I have major wanderlust! I am always homesick for places I’ve never been! I always want to be elsewhere and my wanderlust grows stronger the more I Travel!
Every time I travel, I’ve found that the best way to truly wander is to just get lost and immerse yourself completely in the moment and the culture!
You must get out of your comfort zone and go somewhere completely new & different where no one knows your name->That’s what true traveling and wandering is!

. . .

If you related to any of those statements above, then you will definitely relate to the following post.

Traveling is a way of life! It’s a life long adventure that never ends! And, the only way to make it even better is to explore the world!

There’s so much to see out there that I can hardly sit still (just thinking about it and writing this post; I need to see it all, it’s all so fascinating & exciting)!

I want traveling to become my life because it’s so exciting to me to just explore new and different countries and their cultures.

Every time I go on an adventure, it becomes more than a simple trip because I live for new adventures & new experiences!

. . .

Some people say that they dislike traveling and everything that goes with it. I don’t and will never understand this because for me it’s what I live for; Traveling is what keeps me waking up every morning.

Everyone has that one (small or big) thing that gets them out of bed in the morning; whether it’s: family, school, work, the sun, the rain, going for a run, etc. Something that gets you excited for the day ahead.

Well, for me, that reason is: Traveling!

. . .

Here are five reasons why (I think) you should travel to a new country (at least once):

1- Get out of your comfort zone!
Get away from what you know and what you are accustomed to; Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.

2- Learn something new!
True learning can only happen when you leave your comfort zone because there’s so much you don’t know until you travel and explore a different country & culture.

3- See the world and the people in it!
We are all different, but we’re also so similar. The only way to truly understand what that means is to travel because the world seems big now, but once you travel you will realize that it’s even bigger than you thought.  You need to see and experience more than just your little bubble (comfort zone).

4- Become humbled by your experience abroad!
Traveling really does humble you because you realize how little you actually know about anything. And, sometimes, when you can’t speak a language, you get frustrated because you feel dumb, but that’s why we travel: to learn, be humbled and open our eyes to more.

5- Stop surviving and start living!
Life’s not meant for you to just work and pay bills; start Living your life to the fullest. Stop being stressed, scared or anxious, let go of every worry and doubt & take a trip.

Two extra reasons (that I just thought of while writing this post):

1- No one I’ve ever met has said that they regret traveling; so what do you really have to loose (I promise you have more to gain than you will ever loose by traveling)!

2- Traveling makes your life exciting because it gives you more real and interesting stories to tell (you can teach people what you learned while traveling, and encourage them)!

Remember: There’s always something out there to explore & learn!

“I regret traveling.”

-Said: No one ever!
More like: “I regret Not traveling.”

I can’t think of one reason why you shouldn’t Step Out of your Comfort Zone and Travel!

Think about it; there are Millions of reasons why you should travel and there might be a Few (Very few) reasons you tell yourself, you don’t want to travel.

How-ever you weigh it, the reasons you should, far outweigh the reasons you shouldn’t.

Reasons you SHOULD travel:

…because you know the next adventure ahead of you is going to be AMAZING

Reasons you shouldn’t travel:

I seriously can’t think of any because whatever I think of, gets out-weighed by the reasons you should…

For example: If your scared, you should travel to get over your fear, and if it’s about money, you should travel to become rich in knowledge and experience.
Those are more important than being scared and rich with money.

So, Get out there & Conquer your fear while living an amazing adventure!

I hope this post inspired you to get out there and explore the world!
