Re-rooting : Identity

2 simple words
that changed my entire view of
who God is
and how He looks at me

2 simple adjectives
that flipped my self worth
within just a few seconds
of fully knowing Him

9 simple letters
that broke something in my roots
of what I thought I already knew
and understood of Him

3 simple syllables
that cut deep into my heart
and broke everything I used to build
my foundation about this Father I”ve heard so much about

Why are these 2 words so difficult for me to comprehend?
How can I begin to live my life knowing that I am fully known?
What does that even truly mean?
Where do I begin this search?
When do I start building this new identity?

I’m fully known and loved by You
You won’t let go, no matter what I do
And it’s not one or the other
It’s hard truth and ridiculous grace
To be known, fully known, and loved by You
I’m fully known and loved by You

Known by Tauren Wells

I guess it’s time
I start re-planting my roots
and learning what it means to be known
and fully loved
by the Father

I don’t know where or how to start
but I know that
if I trust my Father
He will teach me
and show me the way

So I start with believing
these 2 simple words
that I am fully seen and truly loved
by a Father who will never leave me
who always keeps His promises

Although the true meanings of these words
are foreign to me
I trust in my Father to show me the way
to re-rooting myself
in His truth over me

To be love, is to be loved by You
To be love, is to loved by You
So I won’t worry about tomorrow
‘Cause all I wanna do, all I wanna do
Is know You

Abide by Kingdom Culture Worship

If you haven’t figured it out yet
the 2 words I’m referring to, are :
SEEN & LOVED

These words have defined my year so far
I’ve heard them spoken over me almost every day
And God has been telling me that this is my year of breaking old roots
To grow new, stronger ones in His truth

And so I share this poem in order to encourage and allow you
to start to understand these truths in your life,
and be able to begin to step into them
because it truly is the best way to change your life!

NO SELF-HELP BOOK CAN TEACH YOU WHAT GOD CAN SHOW YOU IN 2 WORDS!

Living Vulnerably

To go back
To the moment
Where it was simple
When trust was easy
Oh, to get closer to that

Now…

To live
A life of vulnerability
In communion
In the garden

To abide
In your presence
Everyday
Where nothing
Must be proven

To live
In your love
In daily communion
In a life of vulnerability
With you

That’s what I strive for
Everyday
To be vulnerable
And live fully
As myself
With my best friend β€”
My Abba Father

Godly Expectations Released

What can I do?
How can I live rightly?
When will it be enough?

You’ve probably asked yourself these questions before (at least once).
Well, here’s a poem with the answer to how you can truly fulfill God’s expectations:

There’s nothing
you can do.
It will never
be enough.

Stop placing overwhelming
expectations on yourself
to please God
and others.

He never expects
anything – ever.
Just pure love and
mustard seed sized faith.

Don’t ruin
His perfection
by making Him
unattainable.

He loves you
simply because
that’s just
who He is.

No expectations
or other motives.
Just simple – perfect
fatherly love.

Stop putting Him
in a box
that’s out of reach and
start accepting His love!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this encouraged you to release your expectations of yourself, others, and God; and start living in perfect freedom with Him.

This poem was inspired by THIS SONG!

A poem about evangelism

Just tell them!

One smile
Instead of words
Is enough
And, so simple

Just tell them!

One word
More than enough
To speak
Life over someone

Just tell them!

One sentence
All it takes
To explain
The good news

Just tell them!

One truth
Of unfailing love
Is greater
Than the world

I hope this poem encouraged you, & reminded you that telling others about the truth & love is as simple as a smile!

Solo Travel Tip #4

Pack light & simple!

. . .

From arriving safely at your destination, to exploring your destination…
When traveling alone, there are A LOT of things to think about… and, one of the most important, and overlooked thing is PACKING!
So, here are some tips about packing that I’ve learned throughout my many solo travels:

1- Pack light
You’re traveling alone; you don’t want to worry about carrying 2 bags and lugging around 2 suitcases. Save yourself the stress, and pack just 1 suitcase and 1 bag.

This is what I normally pack for my trips.
1 suitcase (regular 24″) & 1 backpack (big enough to hold some extra clothes and a 17″ laptop)

2- Check the weather!
You most likely don’t need to bring your entire wardrobe.
And, if you do forget anything, you can probably find at your destination (and, it can count as a great souvenir).

Search for the weather forecast for the first week of your trip.

3- What are you going for?
Are you going to be at the beach everyday? Are you going hiking a lot? Are you going in the mountains?

4- What kind of trip?
Is it for business? Are you going for vacation? Are you going to visit friends/family? For how long?

5- How are you going to pack?

Fold
Roll

Will you choose the fold or roll method?
This tip is very controversial. But, after personally trying both methods, multiple times, for different trips, I’ve come to the conclusion that the FOLD method is 100% easier and much more effective for any type of trip. It also takes much less room in your suitcase,
and keeps your clothes much more organized, and less wrinkly.

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post helps you pack effectively for your next adventure because packing effectively is the start to an amazing experience because it can take away some of the stress of traveling!

P.S. This post was inspired by my next adventure (departing: tomorrow)!
So, stay tuned for more adventure posts (and, to find out where I’m going)!

Here’s a hint of my next adventure!

Perfection…

Your flaws make you, YOU!
They give you your personality!
They make you amazing!

Your flaws are perfect!

Look at nature.
The mountains, trees, ocean, are not perfect.

But, they are beautiful!
We look at them in awe, of their natural beauty!
Nature’s simplicity, is awesome, and, perfect!

We don’t ask much of it, we don’t complain about it, and, yet we stare at it, in awe of it’s perfection.
Even if we notice it’s faults, we choose to look at it’s perfect simplicity and peacefulness instead.

So, why can’t we do that with people (especially ourselves)?

We are always hating on ourselves and all our flaws, and, we can’t stop judging others, but, when we look at nature, we see beauty, and, perfection.
I think it’s time we start noticing our flaws as perfect personality traits that make us amazing!

If we can find beauty in nature, we can definitely find beauty in people!

The Life-Changing Ticket

A simple ticket
To fly to a foreign place
Without return plan

One simple purchase
That could change everything
It takes some courage

Will it be worth it?
Am I ready for this change?
When will I return?

Doing all of this
To spend a few months abroad
Learning and living

Day by day with faith
Not thinking about the past
Or the future

And, when I return
Will I be ready to start
And succeed again?

. . . (3 months later) . . .

Yup, I’m ready now
This experience was great
It changed so much

It’s crazy to think
About how much I’ve learned
All from one ticket

One small, simple step
Changed and taught me so much
That I won’t forget

One small decision,
And, step into the unknown
Can change your life!

Memory Lane…

A trip down memory lane…

Things used to be a little more black & White
Life seemed so much simpler
It never mattered what the weather was
Cuz jumping in all the puddles used to be normal
And running around under the sun with no set purpose was simply exciting

Those were the good ol’ days…

When worries used to be so low
that nothing even mattered,
And happiness was always high

Those were the good ol’ days…

When no mistake was a big deal
And decisions didn’t impact so much
No mistake or decisions mattered so much

Those were the good ol’ days…

Everything used to be better
And easier
And funner
And chiller
And just all around, straight-forward
Black or white, that was it
No confusion

Those were the good ol’ days…

But now, things are no longer black & white
There seems to be more gray now
Nothing will ever be the same
Everything about those days has gone
But one thing remains from those days
The good ol’ lessons

Those were the good ol’ days…

I will always remember them
And their lessons
Good and bad
Cuz they’ve taught me so much

These are the good ol’ days…

Thanks for reading!
Have a good day! And, cherish every moment because one day, today will be “the good ol’ days”!

Weekend Coffee Share…

Hi! How are you? Thanks again for waking up so early (6am) to chat/read.
If you didn’t read last weekend’s coffee share, click here: Weekend coffee share…

“Black & White. The 2 most important colors to a writer.”

So, for this weekend’s coffee share, I’m going to share my thoughts about that ^ statement with you.

So, first, when people ask you: “Why do you write?”
-What do you normally answer?

. . .

For me, I used to just answer: “Because I want to share my adventuresspread positivity…& encourage others to travel.”.
But, while that is definitely still true, my answer has slightly changed since I started writing because I, now, understand what makes writing so exciting & fascinating.

. . .

1- I find it fascinating that some simple black letters on a white page can make for such an interesting story.

2- I find it fascinating that I can form words & sentences with those black letters that will really POP on the white page.

3- I find it fascinating that black & white are the simplest colors yet, they create the best images & tell the biggest stories.

4- I find it fascinating that I can invent my own words to explain something, & I don’t fail because of it, I actually get positive feedback.

5- I find it fascinating that I can share my adventures with others so vividly that they can sense that they’re there as well.

6- I find it fascinating that simply writing (or typing) a single page (of anything) can be an escape from reality.

7- I find it fascinating that the simplest words make the biggest impact on a story. Without one specific word, a story changes drastically.

8- I find it fascinating that I can be creative & create something without actually drawing. (Which is good cuz I’m not great at drawing.)

9- I find it fascinating that I can create a vivid image without drawing, & using only the colors, black & white.

Thanks for reading!

Now, it’s your turn to share! In the comments, answer the question: “Why do you write?”

The good ol’ days!

I miss the days when I used to play outside everyday after school.
I miss the days when I would run around my block with friends and neighbours doing crazy and stupid things.
I miss the days when we’d laugh all evening until the sun set.
I miss those days because I always thought we’d see each other again tomorrow.
But, one day, tomorrow never came..
We all eventually moved away from that neighborhood.
And, without a trace, we all forgot about those days.

. . .

And, although, I have put those days behind me, sometimes I get reminded of those days. I’m reminded about how simple life used to be.
I think about what life would be like if none of us ever moved away.
But, then I remember that those days are in the past.
And, I realize that the past has made me who I am today.

I just miss the simplicity of how it used to be.
But, that’s what makes it such a good memory.
It’s a simple memory, that has taught me so much.

Those people I ran the streets of that neighborhood with.
And, the people I went to school with.
They have unconsciously taught me things that have formed me into the person I am today.
And, I wouldn’t change a thing!

. . .

I don’t have any idea what those people are doing now but, it really doesn’t matter because those were “the good ol’ days” for a reason.
And, in a way, I don’t really want to know what they are doing today.
I’d rather just keep the good & simple memories of those days because of those days and those memories, I am happy with the person I am today and I am proud of my younger self for everything I learned; even though sometimes it was more difficult than I felt like I could handle in the moment. But now, I am proud of everything. And, one day, I might meet those people. And, I won’t say much. I’ll simply thank them for everything we went through together.
They call them “the good ol’ days” because they are meant to stay in our past as old memories that will continue to teach us lessons throughout life.
And, no matter what your “good ol’ days” memory is (if it’s good or bad), just know that it is very important because:

Your past does not (and will never) DEFINE you,
but, it sure does SHAPE who you are and who you will become!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post reminded you of your “good ol’ days” and helped you realize how far you’ve come!

These are the good old days for your future self!

Two sides to everything…

Sometimes you just have to turn around and look behind you for a second.
It might change a lot more than you think!

. . .

Location of picture:

bridgeCortina Puclaro
50 minutes from La Serena, Chile

. . .

While taking the picture above, I was drawn to the lake because the sun was shining directly on it and it seemed like the perfect picture of a lake in the middle of the mountains.
I didn’t really think of taking a picture on the other side because the sun was shining directly at my camera and the view didn’t seem as good, but I took one just to see what it would look like and, it actually came out amazing.
I, then, realized that the sun setting behind the mountains, the sun flair on my camera and, the river going through the mountains was a really good picture and I was glad I decided to take both pictures.

. . .

So, why am I sharing this story?
Well, after taking a picture of both sides of this bridge, I realized that it was kind of a metaphor for life.
You see, sometimes we can get stuck just looking at one side of things in our life, and we are happy with it because we think it’s a great view.
But, it’s not until we turn around that we realize that we should have turned around much earlier because there was so much more amazing things waiting for us, and all we had to do was turn around and shift our perspective.

And, it’s really quite a simple concept.
You just turn around to shift your focus, and watch your perspective change.
And, that small shift in your perspective could change your whole world.

One simple shift in your focus
could change your entire perspective of your life!

Thanks for reading! I hope this post inspired you to change your perspective every now and then; and, if you’d like to read more about perspective, check out this post: Perspective… / A Day in Valparaiso, Chile!

Face the fact!

Do YOU own a passport?

Fact: Did you know that more than half of the people that live in North America don’t own a passport?

. . .

Now, I don’t know exactly how many people live in North America, but it’s definitely a fair amount. And, the fact that only half of us own a passport is very sad.
I can’t believe that many people don’t see the need to own a passport and travel to another country.
A passport is like the best and most valuable thing you can own.
You can travel anywhere and fill your passport with stamps, your heart with memories and your brain with knowledge.

. . .

So, I just googled it, and found out that about 579 million people live in North America and only about half of them own a passport.
That means that about 290 million people in North America alone (I don’t know about in the rest of the world) don’t own a passport!

In my opinion, that’s not a good ratio, at all. (50% is not a good grade)
That means that about 290 million North American have never traveled to another country. They have never left their comfort zone.
They might never go to a passport office.
They might never hold a passport in their hands.
They might never get that feeling of excitement when they see that first stamp in their passport.
They will not know what it’s really like to visit another country.
They will never hear another language in a foreign country.
They will never get that thrill of taking-off in a plane for the first time.
They will never know the feeling of stepping foot into an unknown country.
They will never experience the excitement and adrenaline of going to a foreign country.

All these reasons used to make me sad for those people, but, after writing them down, they just confuse me.

How can someone not want to travel and experience all those things?
How can someone be so afraid to leave their comfort zone that they refuse to get a passport? (it’s really quite simple, just take a picture & fill out a form)
How can someone be happy and content with their home country, knowing that there is so much out there to explore?

I mean, seriously though, a passport is truly the most valuable thing you can own.

So, if you are one of those people that doesn’t own a passport, just try one thing.
Instead of buying that new smartphone or laptop, go purchase your first passport because for one, it’s cheaper and, the passport will actually make you feel richer.
You probably think you will never use it, but I promise, once you own one and hold it in your own hands, you will want to use it and fill it up with stamps and memories.

AND, IF YOU’RE STILL NOT CONVINCED THAT YOU SHOULD PURCHASE A PASSPORT, HERE ARE A FEW QUOTES THAT MIGHT ENTICE YOU EVEN MORE!

Passport
The stamps that fill your passport will become your best memories and amazing stories!

Passport2
The more you travel, the more open-minded you become about the world & other people & cultures!

Passport3
This one speaks for itself!

Passport5
Whenever you purchase a new passport, Travel so much that you need to buy a new one for each new adventure!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this encouraged you to, either:
Buy a passport!
or
Start using your passport more often!

Hope For Your Future…

Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.
-Robert H. Schuller

. . .

So, before I begin, I should start by saying that I don’t know the person who said that quote, but, when I read it, I immediately remembered one of the main reasons why I made the decision to live here, in Chile, for 3 months.

. . .

I knew that living here was going to be very different, and I would have to adapt to a lot of new things.
I also knew, from experience, that travel teaches amazing & valuable skills & knowledge and it helps with (mental, physical & spiritual) growth.
So, let’s just say that I wasn’t exactly terrified of this trip, and making this decision was pretty easy for me because I love traveling anyways. But, I still had some doubts in me about this decision (like, was it even the right one?). And, the only thing that kept me from letting doubt win was the excitement of travel, and knowing that I was doing something that would better myself and my future.
I knew deep down that this trip was going to shape me and my future in some amazing way, and I didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to travel more, grow more and shape my future.

Traveling shapes us in a way we don’t realize,
until we come home & see what changed in our minds!

. . .

That quote is a good reminder to have faith in your future, and to not let today’s hurts and fears stop you from accomplishing your dreams.
It reminds you that, how you feel today does not define your future because if you keep hoping, praying and working, your dreams will become reality and you will be able to say that you accomplished your goals.
It reminds you that even though traveling has tough moments (culture shock, fear of flying, fear of the unknown, etc.), it’s all worth it in the end because you’re working towards creating a better you and a great future for your better self. And, in that future, culture shock, flying & fear of the unknown will not be as foreign to you.
You might even, actually, start to love those aspects of traveling (I know, I definitely have).

Hurts only last for a period in time!
But,
Hopes can lasts forever (as long as you never lose your hope)!

So, whatever it is that’s stopping you from doing something amazing, put it aside and let your hope and faith in your future guide your decision because being hopeful is much better than being fearful.

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post inspired you to go out & live your dreams because you should never let your hope fade & your hurts win!

Kill the hurts & fears by letting your hopes & dreams shape your future!

My Own Material

For today’s post, I was challenged to look through my old Facebook, Instagram or Twitter posts and pick something that stood out to me and write what I think about it now.

. . .

So, I chose to look through my Instagram feed and, while scrolling through, my very first Instagram post stood out to me.

Here it is:

The comment under it, just said: “Smile”.

. . .

While thinking about how I feel about it now, I could only say: “I’m so glad this was my first Instagram post because it reminds me to always remember to smile, no matter what’s happening around me. Smiling is so much easier (and much more worth it) than being angry or upset at the world all the time.” And, just like the comment says, it’s simple; just Smile (one powerful word).

Just a simple smile can turn your whole day around!

. . .

And, also, while scrolling through my Instagram feed, I noticed how much it changed and evolved throughout the years.

From: Just random pictures I would find on the internet that seemed interesting.

To: Pictures I take on my own adventures.

It changed from, a random Instagram account, to, more of a traveling account.

It was very interesting to look back and see my own journey because it helped me see that I’ve come very far. And, it gives me hope that I will still keep going far.

. . .

So, now I challenge you to go through one of your social media feeds and find something that sticks out to you, OR, just look at your journey and notice how much your posts have changed over time. (Comment below with what you discovered).

Thanks for reading! I hope this inspired you to remember where and how you started, and to have faith and hope in your future.

Crave…

So, today’s post is a one-word prompt about the word “crave”.

. . .

So, it’s very late at night (this might be a short post) and I almost forgot to write today. And, the first things that came to my mind when I remembered that I had to write something for day 3 was: “I crave mac & cheese”.

. . .

I’m not exactly sure why this came to mind because mac & cheese isn’t really my favorite meal, but, I have been living in Chile for a few weeks now, and I think its’ simplicity, homey & comforting feel made me crave it.

This also made me realize that, when we travel, we usually crave the simple, little things from home.
And, when we are home, we crave/miss the simple, little adventures from our past/future travels.

Simple things really do make a difference!
Don’t overlook the little things!
Small things make more of an impact than you would think!

Thanks for reading this short & very late, but, hopefully, somewhat, insightful post!
