New Year, Same God

good year
bad year
global pandemic
globally traveling
through it all
He remains

“what if I gave it all?” this year
“could I be a worthy sacrifice?” deserving of love

this year
i’m leaving it all behind
last year
i learned so much
i’m ready
to sit at the table
with you
i want to partake in your communion

“with bread as your body” the bread of life
“and wine as your blood” i will follow you

i was
a sinner
but He
welcomed me
i’ve entered
the gates
i’ve repented
kneeling down
i’ve discovered
redemptive grace

so, this year

“come trial or blood
because you, oh God
you’re the one my heart loves”

it will always be you

The Moon Keeps Shinning!

As I sit here
under the stars
starring at the moon
watching the clouds go by
listening to my best friend
I can’t help
but be intrigued
by the metaphor
in front of me
in the brightness
of the moon

It just keeps shinning
no matter how dark
the clouds get
or how many
clouds cover it
it never dims it’s light

That’s the metaphor

And that’s what
I’m learning
and striving to be
more like the moon

To never
let the darkness
dim my light

Thanks for reading! I hope this poem inspired you to keep shinning; even in the darkest of places & times because the Light of the world can live inside of you. And, when it does, your light will never fade!

This post was inspired by the picture on this post, this song, (and Christmas time)! 🙂

Office Job…

Sitting here
Thinking
Spinning around
In this chair
At this desk
My desk?
Writing
These words
On paper
To process life
Typing
Something random
To look busy
Doing homework
Feeling
Weird and confused
Asking
So many questions
About the future
God, how did I get here?
Waiting
For an answer
In the meantime
I continue
To sit here
At this desk
Learning
To be professional

Thanks for reading!
That poem was inspired by my current “job” here in Australia.
It’s kind of a long story about how I got here, so to keep it short, click this link to learn about what I’m currently doing here.
And, click this link to learn more about what I’ve been doing here for the past 7 months!

Cafe Saturday

Sitting here
Starring out

Into the city
From this cafe
I can’t help

But think
How God
Did I
Get here?

Just a random
Saturday in winter
Here in Australia
With
So many visions
So many dreams
So many plans
Just chasing God
With my life
And so far
He has never
Let me down
And
Here I am
Just sitting here
In His presence
In the comfort
In the love
In the protection
Of my Father

He has
Always been
Holding me
Protecting me
Fighting battles
All so
I would
Never worry

I know a God
That worries for me
He takes my burdens
And frees me from
EVERYTHING
And –
He gives me
A Saturday filled
With His love

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post reminded you that God is always with you (even on a random Saturday in a foreign city in a random cafe). He is everywhere, ready to protect & comfort you!

As I sit here…

Here I am, waiting…
Learning patience everyday!
I sit here and wait.

My day will come.
I just know it, so I wait.
Patience is a skill.

I’m perfecting it.
I get better and better –
Everyday, I wait.

I get discouraged.
But, I never stop learning.
There is a reason.

I don’t know it yet.
But, I will when it happens –
And, I will love it!

So, I patiently –
Wait for that; my best day –
It’s in front of me.

And, as I sit here…
I question, and learn a lot.
Preparing myself.

That day is coming.
It’s just around the corner.
So, I keep the faith.

And, as I sit here…
I start to pray about it, and –
I ask for patience…

…Until that day where –
All my dreams will come true, so –
I sit here and wait –

patiently…

Thanks for reading!
