Re-rooting : Identity

2 simple words
that changed my entire view of
who God is
and how He looks at me

2 simple adjectives
that flipped my self worth
within just a few seconds
of fully knowing Him

9 simple letters
that broke something in my roots
of what I thought I already knew
and understood of Him

3 simple syllables
that cut deep into my heart
and broke everything I used to build
my foundation about this Father I”ve heard so much about

Why are these 2 words so difficult for me to comprehend?
How can I begin to live my life knowing that I am fully known?
What does that even truly mean?
Where do I begin this search?
When do I start building this new identity?

I’m fully known and loved by You
You won’t let go, no matter what I do
And it’s not one or the other
It’s hard truth and ridiculous grace
To be known, fully known, and loved by You
I’m fully known and loved by You

Known by Tauren Wells

I guess it’s time
I start re-planting my roots
and learning what it means to be known
and fully loved
by the Father

I don’t know where or how to start
but I know that
if I trust my Father
He will teach me
and show me the way

So I start with believing
these 2 simple words
that I am fully seen and truly loved
by a Father who will never leave me
who always keeps His promises

Although the true meanings of these words
are foreign to me
I trust in my Father to show me the way
to re-rooting myself
in His truth over me

To be love, is to be loved by You
To be love, is to loved by You
So I won’t worry about tomorrow
‘Cause all I wanna do, all I wanna do
Is know You

Abide by Kingdom Culture Worship

If you haven’t figured it out yet
the 2 words I’m referring to, are :
SEEN & LOVED

These words have defined my year so far
I’ve heard them spoken over me almost every day
And God has been telling me that this is my year of breaking old roots
To grow new, stronger ones in His truth

And so I share this poem in order to encourage and allow you
to start to understand these truths in your life,
and be able to begin to step into them
because it truly is the best way to change your life!

NO SELF-HELP BOOK CAN TEACH YOU WHAT GOD CAN SHOW YOU IN 2 WORDS!

The Start Of Something New!

Alive Again!

So, this post is inspired by a personal experience I’ve had recently,
that taught me A LOT of lessons!

Woke up
Disappointed
Crying my eyes out
Feeling lost

Cleaned up
Self confronted
Full of doubts
Feeling done

Looked up
Refocused
Found my roots
Feeling motivated

Stood up
Restarted
Took a new route
Feeling different

Jumped up
Wisdom gained
In pursuit – of
Feeling alive again!

Where you started…

Sometimes it can be good to go back to where you started.
It can teach you new lessons.
It can show you things you didn’t notice last time.
It can be a comforting, familiar place in the midst of the chaos.
It can help you think better.
It can give you clarity about some tough decisions.
It can truly be a blessing.

. . .

If you ever feel like you’re going backwards, remember that nothing you do will ever actually push you back because you are always learning new things.
Even if it’s the millionth time you do something, it can always be done differently.

~ I’ve recently learned that going back to where you started can be a very good things because it can show you new things, and teach you new lessons. And, through it all, you can learn more about yourself. ~

Sometimes going backwards is the only way to move forward!

Adulting / Living Abroad

There’s a lot to learn how to do all over again.

. . .

It doesn’t matter if you were a pro at all those things in your home country because everything will be different in a foreign country.

Yes, there will be similarities, and you will learn the differences quickly. But, you will still need to learn the best place to grocery shop, the best method of transportation to get around (bus, subway, taxi), and the currency (so you know when something is overpriced).

And, on top of discovering all those things, you will need to learn a foreign language.

AND, while you are learning ALL that, you also need to deal with homesickness and culture shock (at least for the first few months).

Now, I’m not saying all this to scare you. I personally have been loving my experience living abroad. I’m telling you all this so you know what’s coming: A LOT OF WORK AND DEDICATION! But, it’s 100% worth it.

Yes, there will be ups and downs. There will be days where you won’t want to speak the language (you’ll get tired of needing to train your brain in a foreign language everyday). There will be days where you’ll just want to do nothing. But, those days are the best because they will teach you the most.
If you power through those days, you will realize how worth it, it is, to learn to adult/live in a foreign country.
It will make it that much easier for your return to your home country. Adulting/living in a foreign country is an amazing, life-changing experience.

It really is LIFE-CHANGING because after you live in a foreign country for more than 2 or 3 months, your view of everything changes. But, the only way to understand this life-changing experience is to live it yourself!
So, step out of your comfort zone & live this amazing experience!

Thanks for reading!

I hope this inspired you to step out of your comfort zone and change your perspective!

A Letter for 2019

Dear 2019,

I welcome you with open arms. I’m so excited for what you have in store for me this year. I hope it’s as good (or even better) than 2018.
I just thought I should warn you that you have a lot to compete against.
The bar is raised (as they say).

I learned a lot in 2018, so I’m ready for more new lessons in 2019.
I also traveled quite a bit in 2018, so I’m ready for more adventures to see even more of the world in 2019.

I’m ready for everything you have in store for me this year, and I’m so ready to step out of my comfort zone.
It took me a while, but 2018 was finally the year I gained full confidence in myself (from teaching English in a foreign country, to solo traveling abroad).
I’m ready to use my new found confidence!
So, I hope you’re ready for me because here I come, with confidence, eagerness, and excitement for the next 365 days!
Let’s do this, and make this the best year yet!

READY! SET! GO!

Sincerely,
A girl ready to conquer this year!

Influence…

“The capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.

. . .

INFLUENCE. …such a big, complicated word that many people don’t like to use because they don’t really understand it.
And, I know this is true because I googled it, and the following questions popped up. These questions inspired me to write this post with my thoughts and answers to them.

. . .

  • What is an influencer?

Literally, ANYONE!

  • Who can I influence?

Anyone, whoever you think you can teach and influence.
Usually you end up influencing the people around you the most, without even realizing.

  • Why are some people better influencers?

It all depends on their confidence level and the passion they’re inspiring into others.
People notice confident and positive individuals because that’s what everyone strives for in life. (You can’t expect people to follow you if you’re always negative.)

  • Am I an influencer?

YES! Of course! You influence people everyday without even realizing it (by the way you act, dress, talk, etc.). That’s why you should always strive to be your best around others because they WILL notice, and it might even inspire them.

  • How do I become an influencer?

You already are one! 😉
Just by being you, and doing what you love with confidence and passion.

You don’t need to do anything special to influence people.
You just gotta be your best, confident and passionate self, and people will start to notice your positivity, and they will ask you for your secrets.

That’s the best influencer!

Being 100% yourself, without thinking about what others might think of you (that’s the secret to being a great influencer).

So, if you really want to become an amazing influencer; start by working on your confidence and passions because people will notice, and they WILL take notes.
And, remember:

You influence people everyday,
so make sure you bring your best self forward everyday!
And, wake up everyday thinking about how you can
be a light / breath of fresh air in someone’s day!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post influenced you into being a better influencer!

You don’t have to let them win.
You CAN try your hardest;
Cuz they’ll be surprised, and you will win!

Catch people off guard.
Surprise them with your amazingness.
It won’t be simple; in fact it’ll be very hard.

A “Poem” for haters & bullies…

I don’t care anymore!
Your comments won’t affect me!
I’m not going to listen!
You can’t mess me up!
It won’t work; I’m over you!
You’ve taught me enough!

…Just so you know…

All your comments and “friendly” convos,
Are no longer consuming my thoughts!
You used to ruin my days,
With all the negative words,
But, now…
I don’t care!

…Just so you know…

Even though I’m done with you,
I still want to thank you,
Because without you,
I wouldn’t be where I am today.
So, although your comments hurt –
A whole lot!
They also helped me succeed –
Big time!

So thank you –
Very much!

…Just so you know…

And, now…
We say goodbye!
You’ve taught me enough.
I don’t need you anymore!
It’s time I moved on with these lessons.
It’s time I start to use what you’ve taught me.

And, go out & find new haters –
To teach me new lessons,
So I can continue to grow and succeed!
So, I wish you all the best in your future!
Thanks for helping me shape mine!
Goodbye –
& Good Luck!

Memory Lane…

A trip down memory lane…

Things used to be a little more black & White
Life seemed so much simpler
It never mattered what the weather was
Cuz jumping in all the puddles used to be normal
And running around under the sun with no set purpose was simply exciting

Those were the good ol’ days…

When worries used to be so low
that nothing even mattered,
And happiness was always high

Those were the good ol’ days…

When no mistake was a big deal
And decisions didn’t impact so much
No mistake or decisions mattered so much

Those were the good ol’ days…

Everything used to be better
And easier
And funner
And chiller
And just all around, straight-forward
Black or white, that was it
No confusion

Those were the good ol’ days…

But now, things are no longer black & white
There seems to be more gray now
Nothing will ever be the same
Everything about those days has gone
But one thing remains from those days
The good ol’ lessons

Those were the good ol’ days…

I will always remember them
And their lessons
Good and bad
Cuz they’ve taught me so much

These are the good ol’ days…

The good ol’ days!

I miss the days when I used to play outside everyday after school.
I miss the days when I would run around my block with friends and neighbours doing crazy and stupid things.
I miss the days when we’d laugh all evening until the sun set.
I miss those days because I always thought we’d see each other again tomorrow.
But, one day, tomorrow never came..
We all eventually moved away from that neighborhood.
And, without a trace, we all forgot about those days.

. . .

And, although, I have put those days behind me, sometimes I get reminded of those days. I’m reminded about how simple life used to be.
I think about what life would be like if none of us ever moved away.
But, then I remember that those days are in the past.
And, I realize that the past has made me who I am today.

I just miss the simplicity of how it used to be.
But, that’s what makes it such a good memory.
It’s a simple memory, that has taught me so much.

Those people I ran the streets of that neighborhood with.
And, the people I went to school with.
They have unconsciously taught me things that have formed me into the person I am today.
And, I wouldn’t change a thing!

. . .

I don’t have any idea what those people are doing now but, it really doesn’t matter because those were “the good ol’ days” for a reason.
And, in a way, I don’t really want to know what they are doing today.
I’d rather just keep the good & simple memories of those days because of those days and those memories, I am happy with the person I am today and I am proud of my younger self for everything I learned; even though sometimes it was more difficult than I felt like I could handle in the moment. But now, I am proud of everything. And, one day, I might meet those people. And, I won’t say much. I’ll simply thank them for everything we went through together.
They call them “the good ol’ days” because they are meant to stay in our past as old memories that will continue to teach us lessons throughout life.
And, no matter what your “good ol’ days” memory is (if it’s good or bad), just know that it is very important because:

Your past does not (and will never) DEFINE you,
but, it sure does SHAPE who you are and who you will become!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post reminded you of your “good ol’ days” and helped you realize how far you’ve come!

Travel…

If you love those things as much as I do, and you also love to travel and explore new places, check out this program to find your next amazing adventure:

GreenHeartTravel

I also copied my review of the program I did below:

Program: Teach English in a home-stay in Chile (for 3 months, in my case. But, you can choose from 1, 2 or 3 months.)
My experience with this program was amazing! I loved every second of my life in Chile! I loved getting to know my host family, and watch their English improve more and more each day! I loved learning about their culture, and teaching them about mine! I loved getting to see another culture in action (while being completely submersed in it). The bond I formed with my host family during this program is the one thing I will never forget about this experience!
My experience with this program changed my view on the world because it made me more aware of the world around me and how many things we take for granted each day (that other people barely even have access to).
This experience also helped me strengthen my Spanish skills and my teaching skills; which are two things I now know I definitely want to use in the future.
I would definitely recommend this program to anyone just looking to travel and make new friends abroad, while making a difference in such a simple, yet very important, way.
Teaching English abroad is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

I hope that you find a great country to visit (and, maybe even a program) that’s perfect for you!
Have an amazing next adventure!

Oh, and, I hope that this video: My Trip to Chile! (Part 5) encourages you to travel to Chile (or even South America) because I 100% recommend it!

Living with a host family… / Leaving Chile…

My experience living with a host family in another country in 3 words:
Interesting-Exciting-Difficult

. . .

So, in case you don’t know. I lived with my host family in Chile for three months, and I really got to know them and they really started to become like a real second family.
But, at first, (before even arriving in country) I didn’t know what to expect of living with a host family in a different country (I was a little scared and nervous, but still kind of excited).
And, even though I was pretty excited, I still didn’t want to do anything that would upset my host family, and I didn’t want to ask too much of them because they were letting me live in their house (so I was still a little nervous).
So that’s all I did for the first few weeks. I started by just taking it day by day and doing whatever they told me. And, after like 3 days, they just started telling me that I was part of the family and that I could do whatever I wanted. But, of course, I didn’t really always do what I wanted because well, I was there to teach them English, but after hearing that they just considered me like a normal part of the family, I started to feel much more comfortable (less nervous). So, I started speaking with them more, learning Spanish, teaching English and learning about them and their culture and background.

And, after the initial few weeks of being nervous, I really started to be excited about living in another country. And, my host family really started to become like a second family.
And, getting on that plane to leave them was actually very difficult because I was torn.
I loved my time in this beautiful country, and I loved getting to know my host family and learn about their culture. But, I was also excited to go home; I won’t say ready because I was definitely not ready for what was waiting at home; Everything is so different!

. . .

On the plane, leaving Chile: I have mixed emotions because I’m only in the plane and I already miss Chile and my host family.
And, usually I love flying, but right now it’s kinda bittersweet.
I had such a great experience in Chile and I learned so much. This experience taught me so much that I didn’t want it to end. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to go home and see my family, but I am really gonna miss my host family and my time in Chile. And, I also know that everything at home is going to be so different now. It’s like I won’t recognize anything!
But, like the quote says:

Travel so much that when you come home, home is still the same, but something in your mind has changed, and that changes everything!

The best trips are the ones that bring you back home with a completely new perspective on everything!

Thanks for reading this post!
And, thanks for following my adventures in Chile!

My Trip to Chile! 🇨🇱

-LiveForAdventure! 🙂

It all makes sense…

I finally understand everything that happened before this trip.

. . .

So, here I am. I made it to Chile! I am living in this beautiful country, teaching English and learning Spanish with my host family. The process to get here was long, but definitely worth it! But, there are still days that feel pretty long because Chileans do things a little differently. They’re much more relaxed and never rush to do anything (And, I mean ANYTHING).
So, it took me a while to adapt to their lifestyle.
And, when I first got here I was pretty frustrated because I thought I wasn’t using my time here wisely (I was always waiting for a store to open or for the community pool to open).
I felt like my days were being wasted, and I wasn’t seeing as much as possible. And, on top of that, I never knew when my host family wanted to learn English because they never told me when was the best time (I asked them countless times this question and I tried starting lessons at different times in the day, but nothing seemed to work).
But, then I thought about it, and realized that the faster I could adapt to their lifestyle, the more I would enjoy my time here, and the more English I would be able to teach them.
And, since that realization, that’s what I’ve been trying to do, but it’s proven to be very difficult because I need to rewire the parts of my brain that tell me that 6pm is a little late to drive to the next town to do something, and instead say 6pm is actually (apparently) early. Or, that 10 pm is late for an English lesson, when it’s actually proven to be the best time.

Adapting to a new culture is more difficult than it seems, and it takes a lot of work and patience,
but it’s definitely worth it!

. . .

Starting over in a new country has proven to be more difficult
than I originally thought.

But, it’s a very interesting & exciting new experience.

Thanks for reading!

P.S. If you ever move to another country or simply just visit for a time, I recommend adapting to the time difference and the lifestyle as quickly as possible, in order to make the most of your time/trip.
And, if you ever feel frustrated with something in a new country, just have patience because in the end you are in their country and they are just living their normal everyday life!

Patience and Perseverance are the best ways to adapt to a new culture!

Generations…

“Wow! The next generation is gonna ruin this world that we worked so hard to build for them!”
Says: people born in the 60’s

. . .

The following letter is for people born in the 60s.

Dear elder & wiser human,

Please don’t be offended by this; just read through to the end; and try to understand our point of view for once, please & thank you.

I don’t understand why you say that we are going to ruin the world because no one obviously wants to ruin the world; maybe we were just not told how we should actually treat the world.

I mean, let’s be honest, people have told us to respect the world, but those same people are always complaining about how we are gonna ruin it anyways.
So, why are you wasting your time telling us to take care of your world, but then, also complaining about the state of our world?

We just don’t get it! If you’re that worried, take initiative & teach the next generations things you learned to take care of the world, and then you won’t have to complain anymore because you taught the next generation, so you will be more confident in the future of the world with a generations that you taught.

Some of you will say: “but they don’t listen anyways, they just do their own thing.”
To you, I answer: “maybe if you stopped complaining about us, to us, we would listen to you better and actually start taking your advice. But, as long as you keep complaining about us ruining your world, we won’t take you seriously because we don’t think you really care.”

Because, to us, if you cared, you would stop complaining & give us real tips and tricks on how to treat the world because most of us are clueless (some of us realize that the future is important because we were raised with good advice, but others didn’t have older and wiser people in their lives to take advice from), so we need you to teach us things from your past that will actually help us in the future of our world!

In conclusion, please stop complaining about the next generations (us) and start doing something to better the future of our world!
Because it is OUR world and I promise you that the next generation wants to respect it as much as you, we just (sometimes) don’t know how because we are newer to this world and need to learn from our elder and more experienced humans!

Sincerely,
The next generation
that cares about the future of our world
just as much as you!

P.S. Thank you for what you’ve done so far in our world. Please teach us things from your past to help us continue to keep the world spinning!
