Childlike Simplicity

Forget performance.
Such a beautiful concept
of true love from God!

It’s so amazing
to fully experience
this simplicity.

How can it be real
to display hope, care, and trust
with one simple word?

The simplest form of
true vulnerability
in one simple word.

Just one simple word
is all it takes to display
His deepest nature.

That’s the simple form
of this true love that remains
uncomplicated.

Don’t overthink it.
Childlike simplicity.
That is all it takes.

This poem was inspired by events from my past week at a camp I volunteered at…

Quick backstory:
This camp I’m referring to is for children in the foster care system / from broken homes.
It’s a week for these kids to come as they are, where they can forget their worries / tough lives, and just have fun, while experiencing and being surrounded by this true Love.
So, while getting ready to go to this camp, I was advised to remain strong because these kids could be violent / rude / closed-off from others (especially authority figures).
So, I started the first day with this expectation that I would get hit or yelled at by children

(maybe a little harsh; but I had no idea what to expect).
And, although that did happened a few times (it happened a lot less than I was expecting),
I actually started to see so much love in these kids.
And, I quickly realized that if I operated out of fear / uncertainty around these kids,
they could sense it, and wouldn’t be able to fully trust me.
So, as soon as I just simply started operating with God’s love,
I started seeing so much love in these kids.
A love that was there all along, but was hiding behind brokenness and fear.

And, in that moment, when I saw so much simple love come out of such little people, with so much brokenness and fear, I fully experienced Love in it’s simplest form.
I truly realized that, if these kids (with all they’ve been through) can still have so much love to give; then how much more can I give?

Alternate title : “Love Uncomplicated”
inspired by this song

Living Vulnerably

To go back
To the moment
Where it was simple
When trust was easy
Oh, to get closer to that

Now…

To live
A life of vulnerability
In communion
In the garden

To abide
In your presence
Everyday
Where nothing
Must be proven

To live
In your love
In daily communion
In a life of vulnerability
With you

That’s what I strive for
Everyday
To be vulnerable
And live fully
As myself
With my best friend β€”
My Abba Father

I’ll be Everything!

So,
You feel like you’re drowning,
Can’t seem to surface,
Without fighting it,
Just try surrendering.

So,
Your heart is heavy, I know,
Everything is dark now,
But just know,
I am here now.

So,
Keep rising up,
You are surfacing,
Keep making it through,
You are getting closer.

So,
Listen to my voice,
Watch me move,
Unexpected things,
Start to happen when,
You trust me,
In the mystery.

Please know,
I am everything,
Forever and always,
I will never leave.
I am a place,
For you to lay your burdens,
I will be your peace,
I am all you need.

This post was inspired by this song!

Hello October!

So, it’s been a month since I’ve made the commitment to stay in Australia for 2 years,
and I’ve already been learning so much!
A few weeks ago, I read this book called “With” by Skye Jethani,
and felt like it was really relevant for this new season I’m stepping into,
so I decided to write a poem about it in hopes to encourage anyone else stepping into a new season of life.

Trust
is a process.
Finding
a place to belong
takes time.
But
when we choose
life with God
and
we start to
trust the process
of His plan –
Bam! –
Trust becomes easier!

Battles are not
won alone
or with anyone,
but
with God.
That’s why we
live for His fame
and
die for our gain;
Because we
trust that HE knows best.
So we
ignore the haters
and
continue to live
life with Him!

Living life
WITH
God
is the key
to living life
to our fullest
potential!

Thanks for reading!
I hope this inspired you to live life to your fullest potential in this new season with the One who gives you all your gifts & abilities because that’s the way to find true joy in new seasons of life!

Home…

Home
is not a place
it’s not a bed
what is home?

Home
is the people
the people you love
the people you trust

Home
is in the heart
the feeling of nostalgia
the place of belonging

Home
is individual
and safety
for the body

Home
is collective
and joy
for the heart

Home
is a quest
and a treasure hunt
of the heart

Home
is only found
in others
and self confidence

Home
is coming out of hiding
and seeking wholeheartedly
for that place

Home
is the place
of love, comfort
and belonging

Home
makes the heart
truly filled
with pure joy

Thanks for reading!
I hope that this post inspired you to keep seeking for that place you can call home!
It won’t be easy, but it will definitely be worth it!

“Peoplesick”

So, a few days ago, I had this revelation about home. I was feeling sad, and I couldn’t figure out why because I didn’t really feel homesick, but I couldn’t put it into words. Until I came up with the word “peoplesick”.
You see, I’ve been living in a dorm with 11 other girls for the past 6 months, and these people have truly become like family, and I have felt comfort (like you would at home) with them.
I moved to Australia 6 months ago without knowing anyone, and at first I didn’t know how to feel about living in a 12 girl dorm. But, a few months later, I realized that these girls had become my home here in Australia.
But, here’s where the “peoplesick” part comes in.. A few weeks ago, our school graduated, and everyone had to go back home. And, that took away all the comforts I had built here in Australia (yes, I am still here). I’m still living in the same place, but I am starting a new school, with different people. And, I kept feeling homesick (even though I’m in the same place).
And, that’s when I came up with “peoplesick” because even though I am still living in the same place, all the people I have come to trust and find comfort in have gone home, and I am left with this empty feeling.
So, here’s a poem I wrote to describe this empty feeling:

Hello again
Trust issues
Welcome back

People come
People go
That’s life

It’s difficult
To restart
Every time

But occasionally
With time
People stay

Good things
Take time
And effort

Never let
Some people
Steal joy

Always continue
Building trust
With them

Those people
Will stay
Through everything

They will
Be there
Breaking walls

“People sick”
Equals progress
And growth

Continue growing
And building
With them

People leave
People stay
God remains

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post helped you realize that sometimes homesickness isn’t missing a place, but rather missing the people that gave you comfort and love.
And, when you feel “peoplesick”, it’s actually a good sign because it means that those people have made an impact on you, and they will probably be in your heart & ife for a while.

Spiral…

“Sometimes on this journey,
I get lost in my own mistakes.
But, my story isn’t over,
my story’s just begun.”

Can you hear me?
I’m spiraling.
Help!

Where am I?
I’m stuck in my thoughts.
Help!

When will this end?
I’m tired of always fighting.
Help!

Is anyone out there?
I’m begging to be free.
Help!

I feel like I’m:

Loosing myself
Brewing in self hatred
Swallowing with guilt
Thinking too much
Breaking everything I touch
Talking down to myself
Coping with the pain wrongly
Trying to change myself
Feeling like giving up
Dwelling on my past
Building my walls up higher
Learning to trust no one

God, I’m drowing
Deeper and deeper
Will you release me from this spiral?

My thoughts & emotions
Have taken over
Can you get them back?

God, I need you
And your amazing love
Will you help me?

I’ve lost the will to fight
I feel like giving up
Will you free me from this pain?

God, I need you
To remind me of your presence
Can you show me your love?

With God, I feel like I’m:

Winning back myself
Brewing in His love
Swallowing with ease
Thinking to gain wisdom
Breaking down walls
Talking about the truth
Swearing to never go back
Striving to be better
Feeling His love
Dwelling in His presence
Building friendships
Learning to trust again

Thanks for reading!
I hope this reminded you that you can always call out to God in difficult times,
& He will always listen and help you because:

YOU NEVER HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ALONE!

No More Hiding!

My time has come
Hope has won
I’ve been found

Fear is gone
Love has won
I’ve been covered

The lies are gone
Truth has won
I’ve been set free from doubts

Broken love has vanished
Peace has won
I’ve stopped running

Quitting has no place here
Comfort has won
I’ve found my home

Hiding places have disappeared
Light has won
I’ve started shinning

Thanks for reading!
I hope this post encouraged you to come out of hiding
because life really is so much better when you are free!
Don’t hide who you are because it’s only hurting you;
God is waiting for you to realize that you have been found!
He is greater than all your fears; stop hiding & trust Him!

P.S. This post was inspired by: This Song!

In This Time…

In this time
We must
Remember
The truth

There’s nothing we can do
But remember the great I Am
And hold onto faith
That this too shall pass

The great I Am
Has all the power
Knows all things
Is always with us

Our only task
Is to trust
Put our faith
And hope in Him

He has never let us down
In other times before
And He doesn’t plan on
Starting now

We must
Remember
The truth
In this time

Thanks for reading!
I hope this reminds you that the current world pandemic is NOT AN EXCUSE TO LIVE IN FEAR; we need to RISE UP & PUT OUR TRUST IN THE GREAT I AM!

Also, remember to continue to support your local business in this time, they truly need it.
And, stay properly informed!
And, stay positive! (negativity never wins!)

Hearing v.s. Understanding

I heard the call
I answered the call
I fulfilled the call

But,

I don’t understand the call
I don’t feel the call
I don’t see the call

But,

I know I heard the call
I know I’m supposed to be here
I know this is right

But,

I don’t know why
I don’t know what I’m doing
I don’t know; what if I’m wrong?

You see, hearing & understanding the call are two different things.
You can hear it so clearly, & still not understand what it means.

That’s my life right now.
I heard the call & I answered it, but I don’t know what I’m doing.
So, I’m learning that this is where faith plays a big role in answering the call.
It all comes back to trust; trusting that saying yes to the call will always lead to something great.

Thanks for reading!
I hope this inspired to always keep the faith because
something good will eventually come from it.

Now, what?

Now, we learn to become a missionary!

We learn to turn those sacrifices into choices.

We stop feeling lonely & start making friends.

We replace fatigue with excitement.

We let go of anxiety & find peace.

We don’t feel defeated, just courage to win.

We stop doubting & learn to trust.

We always know everything will work out fine!

Thanks for reading! I hope this post inspired you to make the best of every situation by turning negative experiences into positive results.

“Is this what you really want?
What about all my failures?
Will you take this shame I feel?
Can you really use me?”

“This is what I want for you.
I forgive you.
I can & will use you.
Are you ready?”

“*Sobbing…*

Okay, I’ll think about it…”

“I promise these things.
I will use your talents.
I will teach you great things.
I will help you.
I will equip you.
All you have to do is…

Trust & Follow me!”

“Okay, I’m ready.
I will stop running.
I surrender.

Dearly Beloved,

A letter of inspiration for those struggling to see their purpose.

I believe in you.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Everyone fails.
You are meant to fail, and know that I will always be there to catch you.
I will ALWAYS be there; whether you try your best not to fail, or you fail everyday.
I will never love you any less.
You are my dearly loved child, and you will forever be in my heart.

I believe in you.
Don’t beat yourself up over small failures.
You have so many blessings.
I will always look after you.
You have a purpose.
I will turn your failures into beautiful stories.
I’m not done with you.
I have a plan.
Trust me.

I believe in you.
Will you have faith in me?

Trust the process

You don’t know,
What will happen tomorrow.

You don’t know,
Where life will take you.

You don’t know,
How you will feel.

You don’t know,
Why things happen.

You just,
Don’t know.

You can’t plan,
Your whole life.

It will just happen,
The way it’s supposed to.

And nothing you do,
Can ultimately change that.

Those decisions,
Shouldn’t stress you.

They won’t end your life.
So, don’t worry too much about them.

You can try your absolute best,
To create an amazing life for yourself.

But, in the end,
Life will just happen.

There’s nothing you can do,
You can’t change it.

But, you can,
Make it even better.

Just work towards your dreams.
And, be happy and thankful everyday.

Follow the north…

Follow the north!

Don’t stray from the path!
Don’t let the force,
Of peer pressure,
Stray you away!

Follow the north!

It might take you through long valleys,
And deep canyons –
But, it will eventually get you there.

Follow the north!

No matter what happens,
or where it takes you!
Take the twist and turns!
Trust that compass,
It will eventually get you there –
To an amazing place,
That you could only dream of!

Follow the north!

Live YOUR best life!
And hustle everyday,
but,
Always glance down at that compass,
To stay on the right track,
To your amazing destination!

That compass will never –
take you in the wrong direction!
It’s taking you on a crazy journey –
Before showing you,
Your amazing destination!

Follow the north!

Thanks for reading!

Travel tip: In a foreign country, it’s always a good idea to have a compass.
You never know when your phone battery might die in the middle of a big unknown city, and someone might give you directions, but, in their directions, the only word you understand is South (trust me, it’s happened).

Harsh life lesson…

So, recently I learned, more like experienced, a not so fun situation. It was an experience that taught me a pretty harsh life lesson (or at least, that’s what I thought at first).
I always knew deep down that these days existed, but for some reason, when it finally happened, it hit me hard.

. . .

So, I was just walking around minding my own business, when I saw someone I knew, but it had been a while since we spoke. And, I was about to wave at them to say “hey!” (You know, to be friendly as to not completely ignore them). But, right as I was about to wave, I saw them make a complete 180′ literally 3 feet in front of me.

. . .

This was a weird experience for many reason because at first I just thought, “maybe they had somewhere to be”. But, then I realized that they obviously saw me when they turned exactly at the time when we saw each other because the way they turned to walk away was towards a dead end.
So, it was clear they were avoiding me. But, why?

. . .

I asked myself why for a few hours after it happened. But, eventually, I learned that I should let it go because it’s just part of life.

“People walk in & out of our lives!”

You don’t know when they will come, or when they will leave.
All you know is that they came, & now they’re gone.
So, all you can do now is remember all the things they taught you.

Apologies & Promises (A Letter)

*I’m writing this for Mother’s Day, but it can also work for Father’s Day.*
It can pretty much work for any day (i just recently got inspired).

Dear mom / dad (or anyone else),

Β Β  I just want to apologize for some things:

I’m sorry for ever letting you down.
I’m sorry for ever doubting you.
I’m sorry for ever being scared.
I’m sorry for ever letting fear & doubt take over.
I’m sorry for all the times I hurt you.
I’m sorry for all the times I failed when you believed in me.
I’m sorry for ever being inconsistent without valid reason.
I’m sorry for ever lying to you.
I’m sorry for ever taking you for granted.
I’m sorry for ever offending you.
I’m sorry for not always trusting you.
I’m sorry for ever giving up on you when things got tough.
I’m sorry for ever yelling at you.
I’m sorry for ever rejecting your love.
I’m sorry for ever rejecting your grace.
I’m sorry for ever tarnishing your faith in me.
I’m sorry for ever breaking your trust.
I’m sorry for ever walking away.
I’m sorry for ever not being good enough.
I’m sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you.
I’m sorry for ever rejecting you.
I’m sorry for not being the best child you could of asked for.
I’m sorry for ever…ything! – I am so sorry for everything!

Β Β  Now, I want to promise some things:

I promise to always trust & have faith in you.
I promise to never let you down again.
I promise to face all my fears.
I promise to be more consistent.
I promise to always tell you the truth.
I promise to never take you for granted anymore.
I promise to love you forever without conditions.
I promise to accept your amazing love & grace.
I promise to never walk away again.
I promise to try to be good enough.
I promise to not cause you anymore pain.
I promise to be the best child that I can be.
I promise to all those things from the bottom of my heart.
Β Β Β  One last promise: I promise to try my very best to keep all those promises because I, now, understand your unconditional love for me.

Β Β  So, all there is to say now is: Thank You! Β
Thank you for always loving me, no matter what. I wouldn’t be who I am today without you. Thank you for never doing to me what I did to you. You are truly amazing. You are my role-model. You make me want to be the best version of myself.

Thanks for reading! πŸ™‚

I hope this letter encouraged you because we all have things to apologize for (to someone), & we should all make more promises that we actually try to keep.
And, we all need to start saying; “Thank You” more often.
-If you can relate to anything above, comment below with the apology, promise or thank you that you would say to your mom or dad (or someone else).

-LiveForAdventure! πŸ™‚

P.S. This letter was originally intended to be: A Prayer to God, but while writing it, I realized that it can work for anyone because apologies, promises, & thank you’s are very underrated in today’s world & we need more of them.

A rollercoaster year!

Hold up!
Wait!
Before I even start to talk about this past year, I just have to say that in the beginning of this year I would have never imagined being here in Chile for New Year’s.
That’s just crazy!

. . .

I’ll admit, this year has had it’s down/low moments, but in general, 2017 has been an amazing year.
I’ve accomplished so many things that I am proud to say that I’ve accomplished.
Like:Β

  • Going to Belize!
  • Graduating college!
  • Growing this blog! (ThankΒ You)
  • Working at a great hotel!
  • Just living life!
  • And, now, living in Chile!

Honestly, this year has been so crazy that I don’t even want to make any resolutions or a bucket list for next year because I didn’t make one this year, yet I’ve accomplished so much.Β

. . .

I still can’t believe today is the last day of 2017.
So much can happen in 365, and you don’t even realize it until it’s all done.
And, if 2017 wasn’t your year, you have another 365 days to change that, with another great year ahead!

. . .

Here’s to 2018!

Quillota, Chile

Thank you so much for reading my blog this past year, and, remember to always continue to:Β

Trust…

Those entrusted with little, will be given much.

. . .

That verse has been on my mind all week.Β I’m not exactly sure why, but I thought, since I’ve been thinking about it ALL week (seriously every day), I should probably write something about it.

To be honest, I’m not exactly sure what’s the best context for the verse, but here’s what I came up with this week:

Trust must be earned, slowly! (From anyone: family, friends, God, etc…)

You can’t expect someone to just automatically trust you with their secrets, their personal problems, their belongings, etc…

For example: When you show someone something on your phone and they grab your phone to look at it, you don’t fully trust them because they might scroll further and you’re not ready to trust them yet (they haven’t earned your trust yet; unless they ARE your friend.).

Or another (better) example is: When you tell someone something confidential thinking they are trust worthy and then, they go and tell someone else, you feel let down and know not to trust that person again (they broke your trust and you don’t know if you want to give them another chance).

. . .

These 2 types of people should never be trusted, unless you’re 100% certain that they are trustworthy!

. . .

Earning trust takes time because we need to be sure that we can trust someone and that they will remain trustworthy after we tell or give them something.

I think that’s what the verse means.
Once you know you can trust someone with little things and secrets; you start to trust them with more because they have earned it, by showing you that they truly are trustworthy.

Trust the process!

Just trust the process! -a wise person told me this 2 years ago, and that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.

Lately, I’ve been doing A LOT of thinking, observing and realizing. If I told you all the things I’veΒ  been thinking, seeing and realizing you’d wonder how I manage to put it all into words (truth is; I can’t).

But, I can tell you that whatever you’re struggling with, it won’t last; whatever you’re worried about now it won’t matter soon. If something is too confusing for you to comprehend, just take a deep breath and move on because God knows what he is doing, he has the map of your life, you just have to follow it.

If you feel like you will never accomplish your dream, don’t give up! I know it’s tempting to give up when something is difficult but how are you going to know when you accomplish your dream if you don’t even know what it is.Through the hard times is when you will know exactly what your dream is, how to get there and why you want it.

Once you understand WHAT your dream is and WHY it’s your dream; you will know exactly HOW to get there!

If you don’t know what your dream is or you feel like you will never make it; just trust the process and follow the map (or plan; whatever word you prefer) that God made for your life. Remember: Maps (The process) will always lead to something great!

DON’T EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM!

Remember: Live for Adventure! πŸ™‚
